Teenage Angst Communal Agony Aunt Thread
Greetings replied to Has anyone seen my shoe?'s topic in Chit Chat
That's exactly what happened this end, I got ever so slightly bored with the relationship and it started to fall apart (this is what I mean writing it was my fault, we just didn't meet that often). All I needed was to fall in love again, which I did the day after she broke up. A shock always works best... If she was alone, didn't have a boyfriend all would be well but I just hate the thought that in 3 hours she'll be in bed with a total dickhead. And when we were still together we rarely had the chance to sleep together because of how far away she lives. Well, the good thing is that I got her a stock bike while in the UK because she wanted to ride with me. It was green as she wanted. But as we broke up, I rode it... purely out of interest. Now I know that I was born to ride stock . No girlfriend but much more fun from riding. She can always ride the 221Gaybike if she wants, but that will never happen because we might not meet again. I just don't know if I should meet up with her once she's back or just chat to her over the phone. Meeting with her would remind me of when we were still together = not good. -
Just keep the money and when you feel like changing frames, you'll have an extra 55 quid once you sell your old one.

Go for the GU S. It's a great frame, doesn't feel short and has a 1010 wheelbase. I loved mine but wanted a shorter bike.

Been roughly 2 months since my gf broke up with me and matters are just getting worse. She's completely blocked any contact with me (6 weeks since we last spoke) and we can't meet for another month because she's away (not that she'll bother to let me know she's back). And with every day I just get more depressed about what has happened. I'm longing to talk to somebody just like I did with her, my family being totally f**ked up just results in me having nobody I can talk to from heart to heart. Treated my gf like my real family, not the one I've got. And all I get is one email explaining she's fed up with me. It was partly my fault and that's why I now feel like shit, it's the moments one went out to ride or sat bored at home which I regret most, after all I could meet up with her but didn't. Every single thing reminds me of her, I keep dreaming about finally meeting her, and her forgiving me all the mistakes I made - and it's always the same f**king dream, the same surrounding, the same people, the same interaction. And the sad thing is that this dream will never become reality. -
From all I know the green and pink pads have been discontiuned and replaced by Echo red.

It's heavy because of the shocker (at least 1.3kg over traditional rigid forks), seat and seat post (my guess is 0.8kg) and the disc setup (an extra 0.5kg over maguras). In total that gives you over 2.5kgs of extra weight.

This topic makes me look thick Oh well

It's a gimmick right? How can spokes "pull" you backwards? Bunch of nonsense or not? Maybe it's just my english but it seems totally illogical.

I don't think turning up in a suit would be a good idea. Agree fully with Jake1516.

O Rly? (hint) It's been there for ages A wider bb would work, but it's already a 128mm and I'm not sure you can get a 131mm ISIS? No money anyway, I've yet to pay for the frame

I thought the 5 pages of comments were here for a reason - and indeed. The video was very very good, editing, music just perfect. The riding was very nice but a bit boring - no variety. This must however be the first film with this kind of riding I like (since the dawn of mankind).

I know this isn't a constructive post but you'll do much better if you perform a search. This is a very common problem. Basically, you're interested in getting your disc de-greased. (edit: that's what you should search under, the methods described should help) Try bedding it in with water. Poor some water onto the disc and ride around braking, when the water evaporates, repeat (x3 at least). That might help. You might want to wash the pads and disc with some washing up liquid beforehand. Rinse it thoroughly though!!

Back in 2001 I had an old Monty mod which had a seat. It was great for riding fair distances (within say 5 miles). It wasn't too quick but then it wasn't exhausting either. The idea of being able to sit down is appealing but the fact of carrying around a thing like that when you've reached the spot and want to ride trials is not

And here's the biggest success of all - ideal chain tension on a stretched chain and a rideable gear ratio. Unfortunately I can only use one coustsink pad because the cranks are hitting my Magura - the Cousts are a bit thicker than the ZOO pad I'm using and I'm not going to grind down a pad worth 20 quid just for the sake of getting it on. It's happy on the front Maggie Forks are Asthons, rear rim is Zhi, gear ratio is 18:18. All the rest is self explanatory

I'd deffo go for a long. I have the short after all, did some measurements after Adam suggested it was the long. The bb rise changes a lot, I didn't believe it would really make the bike feel small.
-
Regardless the wheelbase, this bike feels uber short - much much shorter with the same stem than my previous frame which was a Pure S, measured 1045mm
-
Not as good as I expected it to be, the riding indeed was monstrous
-
Got the Adamant, cheers for the help. Rides like a dream. Feels rather short although it's nowhere near the claimed 1065... more like 1090 lol
-
Very good editing indeed. And I agree with Jake, it's a pity it's not trials.

It's really great to see a disabled guy do stuff like that. I mean, he's clearly accepted the fact he'll be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life and yet he can enjoy himself doing an extreme sport which very many able people don't have the guts to do. He hasn't beaten teezrs 5ft drop though

If your rim is anodized, that's probably what's coming off. After all rims are not hard anodized (or whatever this process is called in English) so the coat will gradually come off. I am currently running a new smooth rim with Zoo pads, and they were quite alright the first few hours I used them. However, as OBM says, you should use tar or other stuff. If on a clean rim, all will be well until water gets on the pads. A kind of grayish goo settles on the rim giving no brake power at all - and I mean it, it doesn't even slow you down! I guess you need to remove the anodized coat if you don't want that to happen. Instead of tar, I use rosin mixed with alcohol and it's great. Spreading it takes just about 1 second and the power is comparable to a grind. It also works when it's wet.

Not exactly the same, because you can still puncture the tyre. The idea is good but it's bound to have been thought about already. I think something like that would be very heavy. rubber isn't that light
-
Could you specify what you mean? The difference between them is marginal.

Two options: -Hi-Fi which is 1085/375/55 -Adamant A1 which is 1065/372/55 Before anybody suggests anything, I have chosen a high BB and that's what I want. Take into account that I can buy the Hi-Fi tomorrow whereas I don't have any idea when I'll see the Adamant I ordered. I also love the Control L, and the HiFi is just about the same but with a higher BB.

edit your post quickly before a Google bot visits the site and Bush does a search for "terrorist" on Google. They'll close the forum and kill Danny and Tom
