I'm 5'11" and I was fine on a long GU (1045ish + short stays which makes it uber long) and even nicer on a 986/996mm Monty. However, by far the nicest mod was the short GU. It felt awesome, just the right length and size for me. edit: short GU was 1010mm

That's a Chris King BMX disc. Was supposed to be a bike for my gf once I'd start riding stock but we broke up beforehand. Ah well...

That was one great video!!

Spiderman beats all. Close topic.

Yes, the wheelbase is a different matter because it depends on many factors. If they are all given, there is no excuse for a frame to have the wrong wheelbase. However what we are discussing (or have discussed) is the difference between the same models. Take two Koxx frames with the same forks and headsets and compare them to each other. If indeed they are different, Koxx has got something badly wrong Well, at least we've solved one problem which was the 24UK's "apparently" being like Stradivaldi's violins - hand made and all different. Besides, I quite like the idea of buying a frame which has a random (within limits of course) geometry. It's like getting a present.

Not that we have tarantulas in Poland, I just put him there to make a photo: This one is nice and amusing, the small spiders with thin long legs scare the shit out of me.

As long as it's the truth, what's wrong with that? I've read at least 50 opinions about Mielec frames saying they get the geometry wrong. They got my frame wrong. 35mm off? My mate has a 1060mm mod. He ordered something around 1020. Another example? Another mate has a 70mm bb rise although he ordered a 55mm one. And again I am only referring to custom frames to prove that what Gazza wrote is true!! I can't say anything about the Heatsinks. Also, can you compare a 24UK to a Triton? Were talking about a completely different market here! You can buy a whole bike for how much a Triton frame costs. It's like saying that if Ford was to go bust, people would buy more Porsches. Do you really believe that Dimitri thinks people will now buy Triton frames instead of 24UK's? He'd have to be pretty thick.... Besides, he's bound to have quite a market in Russia alone. edit: Steve wrote that the 24UK frames are all the same. So what's the point of having a go at Gazza? He's talking about something completely different.

Favorite: Ryan Leech Marco Grossenik Other very impressive riders imo: Rowan Felix Michal Nowak Neil T TRA

What Gazza wrote about his experiences is 100% true. That was always the case when you ordered custom geometry. I guess that here in Poland, there are very few custom Mielec frames which have the same geometry as they were supposed to have. However, it doesn't mean that Heatsink frames are all different. From all I know, the standard Mielec frames are all the same. Seeing that Steve probably orders quite a few frames, Mielec does their best to get the frames right first time.

Mint! I like your videos a lot. If you want some constructive criticism about the editing, here it goes: 00:36 - I get what you wanted to do but it didn't work. The transitions are far too quick. Other than that, there is no need for repeating a move in slow motion (20 seconds of the video is that gap at the end), or using slow motion in general. It does work with some moves like wheelswaps but that's about it IMHO. Deffo worth the download. You have a very nice style.

Haha that was great

Your Opinion On The Direction Trials Should Be Taking.
Greetings replied to Tom_'s topic in Beginners Trials Chat
I say it should be about the flow etc. However, without silly people who only go big, none of us would appreciate the riders who don't go big but ride with flow. It's all about contrast I guess. If everybody was riding/trying to ride like Leech or Rowan, both of who have a very unique style, that style just wouldn't be anything special. -
Looks good and well worked out I've come up with something like this, it shouldn't snap because it's thick steel but one never knows... I guess if it was twice as thick (6mm) it would withstand anything.

Ben: That's not quite so because mod bikes seem to be running this kind of setup and they're fine. But yeah chains can stretch a lot, even by 1-2%. It looks like Deng's idea with the horizontal dropouts isn't that bad after all. I've made myself a tiny tensioner but I don't think it will hold if I miss a sidehop, that's why I'm looking for a ratio which will work without one. Nope, because it would mean getting loads of different chainrings to get the perfect fit Looks like I'll just have to keep using a tensioner

I'm always reluctant to go out riding in the morning until I have a good wank. As far as the topic goes, I don't believe that eating properly will make you have more power. However it is advisable to have a good hot breakfast, ie. some sausages, eggs, beans. I always eat lots of chocolate and drink lots before I ride. Stop riding for one day. A rest can only do you good.

Narr, I hate the CLS'o'Damon'o'matic vids. We're talking about something completely different here, riding on an entirely a new level. I don't really know how to put my thoughts into words but if a video is very good, I expect even more from it. And that's how it is in this case

What an utterly NMC topic. What's the point of comparing ourselves to each other? I guess that the majority of the people on this forum couldn't care less about how high somebody can tap/gap/drop or how fast they can eat a hamburger while watching a new video from Wales (or if they can eat it at all). More important is that they can type properly and don't have to use digits instead of words.

From all I know, when Ot Pi was young, he got a bike from his dad to practice before he could start doing motorbike trials

^^^ true. And theres also two other things: -If you're doing a pedal up, pedal from the moment you start moving to the very end of the pedal up. In other words, keep pedaling. This is quite tricky but it does help once you get the hang of it. -Get the whole body weight onto the front wheel and fork. The rear wheel has to remain weightless. Good luck with them.

Actually, the KHE is about 15% stronger (that's 0.15 times, not 11 times). I can't see him using this chain on a stock bike though it is worth the money. I've had it for 14 months on my mod and it hasn't snapped yet.

They're anodized And you can get rid of the creaking by putting some grease around the clamp and doing up the bolts harder. The ZOO bars are really great. Due to their geometry, you can have them at many different angles without them feeling strange. Best bars I've ever had. Got them in my stock now and they're lovely.

that's mud

Exactly. It's a Monty. I don't use it any more so it's just lying around. Stock bikes ***! edit: a NMC notice: this bike is not for sale so don't add me to MSN.

Not entirely Matt, you won't get a good wheelbuild on a weak rim. My friend had his wheel (Echo 2006) done by a good bicycle shop and almost instantly after he got onto his bike the wheel was all over the place. I've got the same problem with my Echo CNC rim at the moment. It's not round any more although it was for a brief moment when I had it repaired and rebuilt by a LBS. It's probably had quite a few grinds and I cannot say what the previous owners did to it but knowing they were English it couldn't have been good for it. You probably remember Neil telling us that he has to replace his 2006 rims frequently whereas he rode the CNC ones for quite a while without any problems.
