  1. if you under spend on the bike now it'll be costing you a fortune by the time you start uni, and you'll have better opportunity to ride at uni, i was breaking more stuff in my first year from abusing my bike more often, so investing in the right hardware now will save you money in the future
  2. it'll require a bit more shunt when you pedal kick and stuff, but you'll naturally adapt to it. 18-15 is perfect though...

    Avid Levers

i've run sd7 levers for years and recently acquired a bike with a fr5 lever, and haven't bothered to swap my sd7's over onto it, i think they make the lever feel a bit shity cause of the extra components in them, that said my sd7s are prety tatty and worn so it might be an unfair comparison, the option to adjust your cable pull rate is kinda cool but it's just not that game changing to be honest.
  4. used to ride lincoln alot, have addeed you on facebook too, if you're still in lincoln in the summer i'll definatley be riding there alot...
  5. bar tape is actually pretty good, i bought some from decathlon for like £6, enough for 2 bars (or 4 grips) and it was prety comfy, rode gloveless with it quite happily to... try it
  6. i know it's not all trials, but it's rude to ignore what everyone else is doing on 2 wheels click me for more yummy biking

    Csc Rim Brakes

doesn't look confusing to me, that lever looks smart from what i saw too at least we know the pads return to an extent, why everyone was going mad about a product thats not really been introduced yet is beyond me, wait till there's some folk testing it, then get angry...
  8. any rim you like, just ignore holes in the hub... to be honest why you'd choose a profile nowadays with the sweet range of freewheels is beyond me, they were never meant for trials, and when there was only the eno freewheel available they made an interesting alternative, but ffw is prety much the norm for a reason... buy an sl...
  9. i'd think so, these posts were mid 2010. sorry bud

    Tyres

i already have dh tyres on the bike, i plan on lugging them with me and swapping them over at the ride (ball ache, but it's worth it to preserve expensive ass tyres) so i'm happy for fully slicks for street and distance... getting holy rollers as theres some locally for cheap, will dig this up and review them for streety fs use, since theres a few lads getting into dh atm i bet the want to hit up the streets will get you too
  11. hurr i get extra ones under my ring and little fingers, like an inch down from the normal ones... don't mess with them, they're usefull
  12. if you want to use 2 different sprockets on the rear you'll need a 2 wheel tensioner so you can run more chain in your set up and take up the slack with the tensioner. the superstar one allows for side to side adjustment so with some allen keys you can adjust betwen the two with a bit of effort and be rellatively confident in the set up. looking forward to seeing this done..

    Tyres

hey y'all, i'm picking up a DH bike in a few weeks, i don't have a car so i'm going to be cycling out to some of my local ride spots (been told their an an acheivable distance from my home) i don't want to be ruining my proper dh tyres on road, so i'd like to get some streetier tyres that will offer less rolling resistance. ideally i'd like something that would support some urban riding to, i was thinking about moto RTsthe crazy bob and the holy roller i use the holy roller on my 24" and i'm pretty pleased with it, but theres probably something i've missed... anyway i'd like to keep it under £20 a tyre but i don't mind paying more if they're worth it, cheers TF
  14. works well to rile up bike geeks and gets superstars brand out there a bit more too...
  15. i'm geting away with no tentioner running a 12t sprocket on a pro2, which are notorious for needing chain wrap... maybe you can find out how much tention you can acheive without a tensioner first? if you have a relatively snug set up then a bodge to apply tension should be fine however if you're chain is slacker than hannah shucksmith you'll need a proper tensioer, the single wheel ones are pants. these are excellent value for money we put one on a friends budget build and it's just as good as the try-all one tarty do
  16. smelly things and a loan to buy one of these treated myself to some suitable dh clothing and relevant periferals and when i get my january wages with Xmas overtime theres a carrier bag in halfords full of goodies for me to acquire at low low prices

    Sales

got some nike compression gear, prety happy with it, chain reaction sale has landed me a cheap dh jersey and some new 510s
  18. years been good, i'd given up on uni at the end of first year but i decided to keep trying and i've got my head around it all alot better, i've got a job i enjoy, i'm the fittest i've ever been in my life, i'm happy with my current trials build, which is a new phenominon, and i'm taking up DHing and shefield is getting a park, so my new hobby is well justified oh and i've kept a woman for over a year, and it's not so bad 8/10
  19. there cheap considering their weight, i love my superstar pedals, past a year old + no qualms and just 1 missing pin
  20. pro2 or king is the only way, second hand you can get a pro2 laced into a good branded rim for £80 to £90, i know it's a fair dent of your funds but it will make progressing easier and inferior hubs will skip and fail and you'll spend more buying single cheap hubs... prowl ebay and the forum, but don't buy the mtb version...
  21. blue 07 titbull and 06 pitbull in orange the new 26 is yummy, do want
