i know theres a boti, but not everyone checks it, and this could be better than boti a movie of fails! i know theres enough of us being dumb enough more often than needed to make some meaty contributions...
you might wanna pic up a compression top, don't spend megabucks on a proper branded one, i picked one up for £15 from decathlon, a lot better than having a heavy hoody balked with sweat...
took the wheel to je james, they pulled the end cap out with a vice and everything popped out hunky dory after thoroughly cleaned the internals, and put some light oil in, sounds excellent
my pro2 has started to skip, i think it needs a servicing, i know i don't use grease i should use oil, i've got some fenwicks all conditions chain oil, will that be alright? its not thick. photo's please
maybe this is the problem? what clamps is he using? if he's got old style mounts with the C washer the washer might have deformed and that usually makes the slaves return to the same point when you tighten the bolts, however running his brake nonstop will kill any grind and make it a turd braking surface. that said if he just behaves like a dick you could stop helping him and hope he f**ks off?
you could skip the weight weenie business and realize that heavy parts require less maintenance and really don't affect your ability to ride that drastically, get a trialtech undrilled, on a light hub, built well and never fanny about with your wheel again
lightest/cheapest hub something a bit stronger and cheaper
if you want a single wall rim...
or dual if your a basher XD otherwise a gash coloured tryall?
also why are the double sidewall trialtech rims so dear
usually your chain can't jump off anyway, unless it's mega slack, then a spoke tensioner probably isn't up the job, it doesn't take away masses of slack chain it just keeps a chain thats the right tension tighter
i need to replace my vee calipers soon, i've had a few different callipers over the last 18 months and have had problems with everything i've tried, the pins in SD7s work loose cheap calipers with the brass bits snap inside and halfords ones don't return smoothly so what're you all running and having more luck with? how are shimano callipers? i don't mind shelling out a few more quid for something good but i don't want ultimates there too much for the amount/level i ride, suggestions please?
5.10s blew me away there well worth the extra money the grip on 5.10s is superb unreal, i also rate the 6.0 nikes, the high top ones with straps are ace not everyones cup of tea but i loved mine!
could be the cones coming loose, try lightening (away from the frame towards the hub) the black bits that sit on the inside of the hub, i don't have paint on this computer but if someone wants to make a diagram that'd probably help
i do my own maintenance upto the point where i risk the chance of f**king something up and the potential cost of replacing a part is more than paying someone to do it, like headset fitting
