    Mech'less' 26"

"Eccentric Eno" hub if you haven't seen one. Hopefully that will help you understand how it works... quite simple really.
  2. But isn't there a huge difference in chainline between the both? (Fresh sits in the middle of 9-speed body and the echo would be as far to right as you could go. Or?) Couldn't it even be the case that the fresh would not even fit on a ss hub, due to them being dishless and as such have less space until you would make contact with spokes? (Don't know domonzas setup though.)
  3. Superb guys, thanks a bunch. Does anyone have a pic of the white stickers on a frame? (Can't find any. )
  4. Going to order some stuff soon and thought you nice guys might clear 2 things up for me: * Echo Control booster - how is the tyre clearance on that beast, looks very tight compared to other boosters, but is it tight enough to cause any problems (or just tight enough to be really stiff)? * What colour stickers are these: "Silver" or "white"? Leaning to any of these or black... Not life or death decisions really, but keep obsessing a while and you become convinced it is...
  5. Yeah gutted would be the word, as for how i cope... eh, well guess i have no choice. Guess it's busted because some form of overexcertion, nothing broken or torn (that the doctors could find at least) - basically tons of hopping (could be related to handlebars, which I will try to investigate when I'm well again). Thanks, you get well soon too!
  6. Try 2 months and still counting... Only thing I would like to add is stop immediately (well don't ignore it a least) when you get wrist pain, I didn't - just kept going about as usual and well... that turned out to not being such a great idea. Don't go riding until it's healed properly - you easily lose more days otherwise, one premature attempt and there you go: a few more days/weeks without riding. Hope I haven't scared you, just wanted to advise some caution so you don't suffer the same horrible fate as me.
  7. Yeah, I borrowed a 11krpm from my father and sure it works. But I've heard that a lower speed might be better - can't remember the details though. After all the "normal" 11krpm grinders weren't really designed with "optimum grinding speed" in mind. Probably I will get the extra power I crave when the booster arrives. But even if it will work fine then, even better is always nice. You can't get enough of the good stuff. Hobnobs + benno: I found this topic (that's where I got the idea to try from) but it's not very specific, might be that no one has really experimented much? Of course I will try for myself, but as I stated a head start is always nice. EDIT1: Hobnobs and benno where to fast for me. EDIT2: Clicky didn't work.
  8. Just got me a new variable speed grinder: 2.800 - 11.000 rpm (Disc size: 125mm. Model: Skil 9385). Happy days! I'm going to do some experimenting with grinder speeds to see what works best, but thought I would ask you guys for a good headstart. Setup: Pads are Koxx Browns and the rim is a DX32 (might try the new Echo drilled one next time). Grinder discs are generic metal gutting discs and I will be using fresh (not rounded/worn) discs. (Not running a booster as of now but will get a Echo control when the shop restocks them in late Januari. Also, if it matters, the frame is a Levelboss and the brake is a 2005 HS33.) That should be EVERYTHING that is relevant about the bike i think... Thanks!
  9. Ooops, didn't know that... (I'm a beginner on a stock, so this is hardly my area of expertise.) Echo Lite is what then, spray painted Easy? Viz and BT have fork with Magura mounts (although at least the Viz ones weight more than 850g) I believe, don't know whether they are made of U6 and strong though?
  10. Echo Team 04? Ask the Germans: http://trialmarkt.de/ 80 Pounds (120 Euro really) + Shipping. A friend bought a complete Koxx from them and he was pleased with them as a store. Someone there supposedly speaks english so try mailing them? (Unless you are set on ordering from either Tarty or Select of course.)
  11. The RB was out of stock (less choice = good :) ), so I ordered a Control... hopefully it will do the trick. The thing is that I'm experiencing some slipping occationally, which could just be badly adjusted brakes - but since the frame flexes so much I'll give a booster a try. Given the good reputation and high weight of the Echo booster I guess if it doesn't make any difference for me, basically no other booster will either. I know really skilled guys running Levelbosses without boosters - so I guess when you aquire more skill you can get away with less power since your weight will be in the right place so to speak. For now at least I believe that a booster will benefit my learning curve (and time will tell if i remove it in the end). Thanks to everyone who helped out answering my questions!
  12. Don't know - must have just been, since I didn't notice until Jaffacakes pointed it out to me. I guess trying to follow the guidelines helped? So no inside tips for you, I'm sorry. But I guess you where perhaps being retorical? I've gotten good advice "despite" only being able to post in "new members", but still nice be validated. Guess it hasn't got anything to do with actual trials skills. :P Thanks! :P One of those then i think... :S
  13. Validated, yeay! :S One of these beefcakes perhaps? Overkill? But more importantly would that fit?
  14. Do you reckon one is needed - how much difference would it make? And if so which one should I get, as I've heard the Try-Alls are not all that great. If it matters I am a newbee and I'm just about to start rear wheel training, so up until now I've been ok without one, but I can well imaging it making a bit difference from here on. Brakes are HS33 -05, with brown(?) KoxxBloxx and the rim is a DX32 with a grind.
  15. Thanks for all your advise so far! I can't remember falling hard on the hand or recall any one instance where I reacted to something out of the ordinary happening to the left wrist. Perhaps though minor things can cause more damage when you're tired (wrist will give more easily) and warm (don't feel pain as much). Support is not my usual approach and needless to say I'll ditch it as soon as I'm feeling good again. They don't add too much support - mainly warmth, which may be good since winter training for me takes place inside(!) a mountain with ~10 degrees celsius. Stretching does make it feel better - for a short while at least... that doesn't necessarily make it a good thing I guess. It doesn't really feel loose or weak, it's more that whenever I do anything that requiers any effort or bend the hand far, it hurts. Perhaps you're right - checking it out might be the way to go since its been 3 weeks now any day. Althought not to confident with doctors, last time when I "sprained" my thumb, the doctor said it would heal in a couple of days, 2 weeks later I went to another doctor (they sent me back and forth, took X-rays, etc) and the vertict was "we should have put a cast on it the the first day now it's to late"... so now my thumb is "ruined" for life - a lot less power and restricted movement. Won't risk them f*cking it up even worse with surgery as now I can at least use it. I've at least decided to quit trials until it's completely pain free, no sence in prolonging the misery. I think I'll try and get a doctors appointment - not the easiest thing. I may do some XC riding in the weekend, with support if I get too bored. When it heals I'll see if I can get something to squeeze... Dunno about all the wanking - wouldn't that cause hairy palms => bad grip => bad for trials? :(
  16. Hi! Being an overly enthusiastic newbee (been riding a couple of weeks or so, 2-3 times a week), I may have gone to hard at it. After a longish session (4hrs?) of hopping around my left wrist hurted like hell (eh, well not quite really) the day after, it did feel sore riding home but there was no real 'pain'. This was two weeks ago and resulted it me taking a break until yesterday (longest two weeks ever). I bought some wrist supports (Rehband something) designed for "light overexcertion" and "preemptive use", which i used during yesterday ride. Before getting warmed up it was not very comfortable to ride/hop, after a little while it felt ok (I think the support helped out) but with occational discomfort. After about 2hrs I could definitely feel it was time to stop, which I did. Today it feels like I'm back to where I was 5 days ago or so. Bending the hand feels uncomfortable/mildly painful (more so with resistance) and there is more crackling than usual. So what do you recon: 1) Doctor ASAP 2) Ride with wrist support unless it's very painful and only for shorter periods till it wears off 3) Lots and lots of stretching 4) Quit wining 5) Other Waiting for two more weeks for it to possibly wear off is not on option unless a doctor says so.
  17. Thinking of getting a pair of Ribos. The price is justifiable if they're as good as it seems (ripping apart "normal" shoes in no time is not cheap). Although they cost to much to for buying the wrong size. I have used Sidis (road and mtb shoes) and looking at the shoe it seems to be pretty simliar (for example the "wentholes" in the front are the same shape) - are the sizes/fit the same as with Sidis? Or else how long are the 44's on the inside? How's the fit - narrow/wide/normal? Would it perhaps be possible to order a few sizes and return the ones that did not fit - anyone tried this? Skate shoes are not an option, the local skate shop (apart from having horrid shoes - to wide, to much "padding" and to stiff/thick soles) in the end said: "I have no clue as to the function of the shoes, we are mainly interested in how the upper side looks". Seriously...
  18. Jansson: Visst är jag det... försökte PM:a, men gick inte då jag är newbie. (Y)( PhenoVenom: Where do you buy those?
  19. Are there less dirty and huge tensioners? Even using using halflinks a vertical dropout would _never_ work without a tensioner... Also, showing off sure is cool :) A tensioner taking up to much slack looks ugly imho, but I guess, no halvlink would do the trick - although the fashion police might come arrest me and then I will tell them you told me to do it! :( I was going to guess KMC would be a good choice - thanks for confirming. Where do you get (Chris??) King Cogs from? Also I guess if Boone rings don't offer any advantages in the rear i might as well get something else for the front (suggestions) otherwise I end up paying as much for shipping as for actual products :). Main thing is that I want high quality SS cogs, not overly heavy or weak el cheapo stuff. So ok, lets start from scratch, what would be a really nice SS setup for a 26" bike (tensioner + chain + front/rear cogs) using a 9 speed hub (3:rd cog from the left = straight chainline, so the tensioner must be able to handle this).
  20. One of these: Plus a 22teeth chainring and 18teeth cog from Boone, both in titanium of course. 8 speed ring/cog for mating with a good "6 speed" trials chain - which ones are the best (must have "mathing" halvlinks available)? Add few mathing spacers from boone for rear hub (9 speed). Would this be a really nice drivetrain? Or am I missing something? (Exept a derailleur :), but my current one accomplishes nothing but knee pain on the rare occations during which my knee hits the shifter.) Anyone tried a similar setup - thinking mainly about the boone parts?
