    Posting 101

I think this pretty much sums up this forum, you guys need the help Posting Guidlines
  2. I can appreciate that people are in a community, but please, show a little bloody restraint. Half the videos are toss. Why do people seem to think that the whole of the internet is going to be interested in a cruddy video they made on pirate software? I see a dozen home made videos of the same repetative moves. Its like groundhog day.
  3. All I see on the forum is the same dumb questions. "Shall I get a XX crank or an XX Crank?" "What brake pads shall I get?" "Stock versus mod?" "What colour tyre shall I get?" Are half of you people unable to make up your mind? Do you honestly believe its interesting. Its all the same old crap all the time. Why are you so unable to talk about trials riding? Does no one search the internet. You just turn up here and ask a stupid question. "Where can a i buy a new helmet" DURRRRR just bloody look
  4. The placebo effect isn't mind over matter as you lot are discussing, thats psychosomatic effect, I.E. bodily symptoms effected by a mental state. I thought I was sick, so i became sick. Placebo is fake medication. Plain and simple.... oh unless your a professor studying it. The placebo effect isn't as simple as it used to be . Fabrizio Benedetti of the University of Turin in Italy recently did some work on the placebo effect. Taken from New Scientist Several times a day, for several days, you induce pain in someone. You control the pain with morphine until the final day of the experiment, when you replace the morphine with saline solution. Guess what? The saline takes the pain away. This is the placebo effect: somehow, sometimes, a whole lot of nothing can be very powerful. Except it's not quite nothing. When Fabrizio Benedetti carried out the above experiment, he added a final twist by adding naloxone, a drug that blocks the effects of morphine, to the saline. The shocking result? The pain-relieving power of saline solution disappeared. So what is going on? Doctors have known about the placebo effect for decades, and the naloxone result seems to show that the placebo effect is somehow biochemical. But apart from that, we simply don't know
  5. They are small and blurry. And the subject (you ) are too small in them.
  6. OK, I'll hold my hands. I was wrong You were very right Krisboats its all about moisture/boiling in cars. My compression info was foolishly based on Air (NOT WATER) in incorrectly bled car brakes.
  7. Things I wished I'd never got for my bike 1) Gusset 18T Single speed kit Its a crap gear for a start, and incompatible with the stock chain off a T-Rex. Oh and its got the crapest ever cassette locking ring ever. It took 8 men and jesus to remove mine after i realised the gear would snag the chain
  8. Its not as if mineral oil costs any real money. £5 of oil will last forever, oh and its what the system is designed for. Water will compress anyway, after all that why if it gets in car brakes it ruins them and you have to drain your brake fluid. I'm sure its slightly cheaper, but how many riders are into saving pennies, when you waste a fortune on brand new parts all the time
  9. Yup, you'll never do up the bolt by hand to anything near tight enough. You need a proper bar, or in the absence, stand on the allen key.
  10. I can see why you have a repost, that other one turned into a childish brawl (see sig for opinions on the matter) I've never managed to take photos of trials, always because i'm riding rather than lugging all my gear about, so this is purely from a critique point of view I thought both photos could have been improved with a tighter crop and the subject taking a central position. CJ was blurred, which is a shame. I'm not sure how applicable the rule of thirds is here, but i'd say the horizon is far too central on the 1st shot. There is too much foreground, with no actual foreground interest going on. Mike hasn't been successfully silloutted, so he suffers from lens flare and contrast problems. I'd also say both images are far too noisy (sharpened perhaps?)
  11. The trials moves are coming along nicely, the video was poor though. I'll try to be constructive rather than insulting Alot of the filming was shot into the sun, so it suffered from terrible lens flare and severe contrast issues (big bright sky and bleached out scene), this also caused weird flicking on the vid for me, I assume its the camera struggling to match contrast with the exclusion of the the rider and bike in the scene. The editing was a little poor, too much "nothing" going on between action in the scenes (bike rolling towards camera and a wait) Poor framing, your head, or parts of the bike are out of the frame for most of the video. Do actually like the song, but it doesn't convey any sense of action of presence, just a bit dull with riding.
  12. Yup, Scallys/Scallies - whatever your spelling preference. Thats what they've always been known as. Some of my mates down Sawf call them townies. Chavs is just some media crap. Same old dickheads doing the same old crap. Just a new term for em.
  13. Oh dear god, please tell me your not allowed out your house without supervision To be honest, the disc itself is far to thin to grind both sides. Plus, I've never needed any more stopping power on a correctly set up disc, i'm not sure if there is anything to gain. Oh, yer, the pads would last seconds if the disc was rough.
  14. Thats why I asked the question isn't it? Next question please....
  15. LMAO, need more information..... I have a car, but its broke, whats wrong? You have a working connection to the router? Can you access the router menu? Are thier other computers that are able to access the internet? Do you need to set up network adapter or will an allocated IP be ok. Do you need to tell it what domain to use? Have you tried just plugged directly into the router, before going wireless? Can you ping an IP address? Do you have a firewall? Can you see netwrk shares on other computers on the network? Is the network secure? Have you got the right password etc for the network?
  16. I keep seeing posts regarding a technique or a move, and its associated height or distance in inches. Such as "I went out and side hopped 40" tonight" Why is everyone so obsessed with measuring what goes on? How come no one brags that they rode a 1" beam for 8ft? Or that they picked a line accross 5 huge obstacles and nailed it with out loosing balance? I suppose its differcult to quantify how well you can balance, or how many obstacles you can cross. But is this all trials means to people, raw height and distance? To me its similar to drag racing versus a rally race. Sure a drag car can produce raw accelaration, but its crap compared to the technique, skill, flair and dedication of a rally driver on a course.
  17. Thats mint mate. Looks well funny. Although I'm not a fan of exercise, I just go out and ride. But for those that do, its amazing.
  18. is this a question of long versus short?? To be honest it seems like a question of natural/UCI/Trials versus riding street style. I can appreciate that trials has splintered a bit. Technical, versus street tricks. But pro trials is hardly going to die because people ride in cities, is it?
  19. Hey, nothing wrong with an old camera..... the cost is getting a good set of lenses and accessories I personally want an old Bronica medium format camera. But can't justify spending the money on one. Oh well
  20. Don't want to sound like a willy, but how much of your website did you actually design/make? To me it just looks like a free forum host (No actual website) and you've used someone elses PHPBB template. I'm not sure on what you want me to comment on, the only thing you seem to have done is given the forum section headings.

    Heatsink Pads

I run them on my rear, and I can't fault them. Noisy as hell though, so as long as you don't mine everyone looking around at where the screams are coming from
  22. My T-Rex came with crappy cages. They folded in about 5 mins coming off a wall. They might be light and "gentle on your feet" but they are weak. Be a man, make yourself some cast iron pedals with 2" nails sticking out of them.
  23. Yer, I started out on a Modified Marin XC bike, then I moved to a trials frame and it all moved along nicely in terms of more height and back wheel work. Like I keep saying in other posts, I'm genuinly surprised at the amount of fuss people throw at diff trials frames. Ryan Leech rides a dirt jumpers bike, and rides fine. Its your talent, not the bike. You'd be surprised what a dedicated person can achieve with poor tools.
  24. Thinking back on things, I've never replaced pins on my pedals, on any DMR, ever. I just get new pedals if mine are bashed to hell. Does anyone replace pedal pins, if so, where do you get them from?
  25. LMAO... it looks crap. The scribble at the bottom, looks like you've just thrown the mouse around the desk. You can see all the horrid jagged edges from the low res. As for the piss poor writing, whats wrong with a font. It just looks crap.
