I love V brakes & it would be nice to see someone make a new Carbon booster that looks like the old XTR. At the moment I am using a cheap alum Tektro & it does a fine job.
My new video: Most of the footage is of Peter, but I have some clips in it too. Peter came up to Hibbing to pay me a visit and we rode a couple of the spots. It was a very fun evening. http://www.vimeo.com/6980857
One of the best Marino 24s I have seen. I am riding my second marino stock. I been riding it for the past 7 months and it is still going strong. Great frames for a great price.
I have tried the backwards mounts with V brakes. I first tried it with a anodized rim with std. mtb pads. There wasn't much lock at all and I didn't like the feel of it. Then I put some MOE V pads on and the lock was much better. The std. pads might have worked if my rim wasn't anodized. Overall the noise was a lot less when comparing to a front mount fork. When I tried the MOE pads on a front mount any modulation made the brake honk with noise which was anoying. Overall I don't know if there is much of a difference in power.
Like others have said…the best Simtra ever. Bigman & others had nice ones but this is just so clean with very nice parts. I think it is very silly that people think +20 is too low for a BB. I am positive you could put Gilles or Giaco on one of their original St. Blaise (+0 or 10bb) frames & they would place very well. Simtra's were very popular in 2007, it is good to see fresh build on one.
SD Ti lever, Ultimate arms (was SD TI arms), CRV's (with light grind), Avid Flack Jacket housing, Generic Booster. Works perfect, never slips & has massive hold. I love it & it has a really light lever feel.
