  1. I'd be more interested to see the comparison between Home users and Business users - most businesses will stay 3 years behind advancements with Server OS, although it's yet to be 'tested' with clients, 95, 98, and pretty much straight to XP. However Vista was such a tits up that no business would take it on, Windows 7 would be a competitor but not for a while yet... Windows XP support is committed through 2014 - meaning that Windows 7 doesn't give many businesses a good enough reason to update too soon.

Yep, just don't hear of many people my age going, let alone older. Meh, I could be wrong.

Nah, I just remember people being on about it when I was at school - then we all left and nobody mentioned it since, I just assumed it wasn't so popular with the 'older' lot.
  4. I agree, I dislike Vista - it should have been released though, it was a pretty important stepping stone from XP to the now Windows 7. Linux is alright, but I really wouldn't claim it to be reliable - sure, flavours like Ubuntu are more basic user friendly, but for someone who knows little about computers, it could be a daring feat! But anyway, back to the problem - 1. Worth doing a scan check - sometimes spyware will name itself rundll32.exe and run from the same directory, it causes all sorts of errors. 2. You can check by going to Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Delete) and finding rundll32.exe - under the username it should say SYSTEM. rundll32.exe is a function for executing .dll files, it may not be a complete reinstallation job just yet.
  5. Oi, you'll take away my fun!

How to you mean? Personally I see it as a good thing - they must be spending a lot on R&D in a time when most manufactures can ill afford to survive in the electronics market.

An awful decision by Sony - they're punishing legal Linux users by doing this, however it will do little do effect illegal uses. It's the whole Sony/Microsoft/Apple or whatever company wording; 'this update isn't compulsory' - a term Sony are using now. However, as we all know, without updating you cannot sign in to the Playstation network, so you cannot play online. Any illegal users will simply not upgrade, develop a downgrade solution or simply find another way around it. It will do nothing but effect the genuine users. They're playing themselves down the market - an alternative OS on a games console was considered a breakthrough, something to boast about, however they're stopping it with little benefits to themselves. Waste of time if you ask me.
  8. You've got to remember they're just doing their job - trials does cause damage and it is a danger to the public, the amount of times I missed a wall and took a chunk out of it or dropped off something and someone appeared from nowhere. The best thing you can do it not be cocky and upfront, just accept it and move somewhere else. I used to get a load of shit from 'the filth' when riding in Nottingham city centre - I was alright with them and usually sat around talking to them, eventually I gained their respect and they sometimes turned a blind eye to stuff. It's not their job to recommend somewhere to ride or to just let things pass so easily - talk to them and be alright with them and they'll be alright with you.
  9. I thought as much, but some people can be a little arsey about the whole affair - I've had 'If you want to get pissed, go to a pub' type comments before. I don't ride these days, so a few drinks and putting faces to names will be a deal breaker for me.
  10. Will there be a piss up? (By that I don't mean getting completely trashed - I mean if there is a BBQ, will a few beers be permitted?)
  11. Worth mentioning, he is in New Zealand...

  13. I voted, but what the hell was that?!
  14. Happens all the time with topics like this - my first car was a Fiat Punto and I f**king loved it, probably more than my Focus that I have now, just because the punto was a bag of shit, unreliable and could be whizzed around until its ultimate death. I loved my car because it was the first real 'asset', I payed for it, it was all mine. I think the first car thing should be a bag of shit, then it gives you the new cars to look forward to. Jumping straight into a 10 plate - whats the fun in that!? I just don't think you can honestly respect something that gets handed to you. Either way, nice car, just take it easy!
  15. As previously posted; 'Helmets are proven to save lives and prevent serious injury'. Your brain is probably the most vital part of your body, your command centre. It doesn't take much to knock it out of function and I've nearly been there 4 times. When I was little I decided to jump a concrete hump outside my house (seriously steep) - in the end it went badly wrong and I smacked my head on the floor, fortunately I escaped with a huge lump on my forehead and a bruised confidence. I wasn't wearing a helmet and it could have quite easily killed me. The second time I was in Derby about 2 years ago, I was on a wall, lost my balance and my foot slipped off the wall, I then managed to fall from about a 4ft wall straight onto my head. I was wearing a helmet at the time, a 2 day old Xen, it cracked all the way through...a crack which could possibly have been my skull. It's a simple helmet but it saves lives - what about your parents, who may ultimately have to look after you for the rest of your life when you can't wipe your own arse anymore. Back when I rode trials, I didn't wear a helmet - a few scares made me wear one, from then onwards it didn't feel natural not to wear one! People who complain that they don't like them and find them distracting...all I can suggest is finding one in the shop that is comfortable and that fits correctly. It's not 'elf and safety gone mad. It's common (ha!) sense.
  16. That cat looks grumpy! Coincidently, we have the same chair legs.
  17. It's a SATA drive, there is no Master/Slave setting. The pins on the drive are usually to alter the amount of storage on them - for example you may have a 500GB drive, the pin position may make it use 250GB for example - so ignore them. What exactly have you purchased on Ebay? Got a link to it? You can check if its in the device list by going to Start, Run and typing devmgmt.msc Each SATA controller can only handle ONE sata drive; 1. Plug each required hard drive into its own plug on the other board - no split cables or anything like that 2. Boot into the BIOS and ensure that the original computer drive its the one its booting onto 3. Boot windows and go to Control Panel > Administrator Tools > Computer Management and then Disk Management - see if they're showing up in there. I'll post more ideas tomorrow.

Some older stuff is cheap, Trainspotting is a classic and you can probably pick it up out of a bargin bin somewhere for £3. I tend to think of it like this for purchasing DVD/music; if it costs you more than what you earn in an hour, it isn't worth it.

You've seen the prices of new DVD releases? Who's the real thief?

http://anonymouse.org/ The connection is made from you to the proxy, then the proxy to the website. This basically bypasses the direct relationship between you and the website - so the proxy takes over being 'you'. It's hidden from the public - however any investigation from an ISP may still uncover you. Technically speaking yes. Statistically speaking it's safe without a web proxy. But if you want peice of mind then go for it.

I don't think Lewis was pushing at all, there would have been little to gain from it and the risks weren't worth it. I'm gutted to see Hamilton go out in such a fashion, especially when it would have pushed him up the championship table and made the rest of the season a whole lot more interesting...there may be time to grab something back though, hopefully!
