You'd have to paint it when its inflated otherwise when you inflated it they paint will cranks also it will flake eventually.

Well his bike is a pretty satandard t-vee (V-brakes etc) So i doubt it a koxx rim. And as jaffacakes said bending it out could make it weaker.

Why? Well because i was using black pads on a grind for about 2 days backwheeled a wall and smashed my back on the top of it, Because there such a soft compound. Pads like Koxx bloxx browns will do you well.

If your going to grind your rim, And have magura black pads you may want to start looking for some different pads. You shouldn't apply more force than the angle grinder itself usually anyway.
