Depends on what riding style you have really. For more rolling tricks and taps stock definately, for more technical moves a mod. Obviosly this isnt like a rule that everyone keeps to but thats how I see it. Matt Rushton

2007 Hope trial Standard trials rotor (I have a a Gothic that im going to put on when I put new pads in) 160mm Hope trials pads. Works very well at all times. Will edit after I have used the Gothic rotor for a week. Matt Rushton
The water will boil up when you go down a hill with your front brake on. As discs get alot hotter then rim brakes do. So yeah don't use water. Not too sure on your first question any pictures??? Matt Rushton
