alot of people do ride with shin gaurds on and the majority of people use 661's i used to use football ones under my trousers and they were fine i didnt really notice any overheating as such. you have got shin pads on after all so do expect to be a bit warm as for the bike id say practise on it but save up for a propper trials bike, you'll benefit from the geo alot more and progress alot quicker

is there any need to upgrade your bb?? if its broken or creaky etc the by all means go ahead but id suggest that you uprade something that you will benefit more from like your freewheel, bars and stem etc. these would be a better idea for you.

no what im getting at is that you cant check your hub for if it skips. he knows he should have checked the water and chose to ignore the blatent warnings from his friends.

i was mainly talking about hub skips because you cant predict them, if you could people would check to save their faces, and chains can be pretty hard to spot if theyre dodgey. but checking the water is something he should have done and could have done extremely easily which would have saved him, besided he was told to check because hhis friends were fairly sure it wasnt deep enough- im not saying he deserved it but he was told to check first and didnt. that was asking for it

but we dont check our hubs and chains to check it won't skip do we, and we cant so your point is pretty flawed

ive done it plenty of times and seen many people dive off it, its plenty deep enough after the ledge even at low tide but you really have to clear the ledge, which when you consider the drop aswell isnt that hard, just a nice run up and your fine, the worst bit was getting back to the pier and climbing up it, my god you got soo cold doing that.

coming from portsmouth i know exactly where it was. he was actually told it wasnt deep enough by several of his friends beforehand so he did get what was coming to him. not meaning to sound harsh though. loads of use used to jump round southsea, mainy camber dock which you probable visited when riding portsmouth but even at low tide it was still safe because docks are usually 4m+ even at the shallowest of tides. i have seen people jump round tower, pompey poeple will know how stupid and mindless this is, its the entrance to the harbour with currents going all over the place and rocks at the landing but amazingly ive never seen anyone hurt there. its just about using your common sense and knowing how far your jumping and how deep the water is. but there is still always a danger there but just don't be stupid and you'll be fine.

Me from cosham, but ive not got a bike as im having another op on my foot in a month or two. I wouldnt recomend it for riding from past experiance and if you did you'll only get old biddies, drunks or chavs having a go.

personally id save the money and upgrade your brakes if you havnt already, then your frame and forks. ive ridden a prodidgy, infact thats what i learnt on and once i stepped on my tpro i just seemed to be soo much more confident
