yes i realised that 17/70 was impossible after i had writen the post but i had to shoot out! I am into cars, not tyres . i think i may go with the 215/40/17 and just because i sold my mini dones nay make me gay and my car is far from the Rice! How does to concept of tyre sizing go? why does the diameter go in inches yet the width and profile does not? I used to know the sizes for stretched 13's but since then i have long forgoten! thanks prawn for the insults and adam for clearing that up!

hey, well i have just bought some 17x7.5 buddyclub racing P1's and i need to get some part work tyres just so i can sit the car on the wheels whislt i get it completed. I know a very nice lad at quick fit who can get me the tyres if i give him the size and since he is doing me a big enough favour as it is i dont want to pester him with tyre sizes. I want there to be a bit of a stretch on the tyres so i was thinking of some thing like 17/70/--- but i just cant figure out the last number, i rember reading it was one measurement divided by some thing but i am not to sure. Can any one help me out please? i just need the last number but i am not 100% sure how you work it out! Thanks a lot!

yeh haha i wouldnt like to find out either! simpson... i know what you are saying but tats one reason why i would not buy a used 50. Your views on the subject may be diffrent to mini but surely a yamaha areox for example which has been ridden around for five years with the throttle pinned (which no not all lads do but a lot do) will have engine wear which will overall effect the amount of money you will spend on servicing repairs ect. Like i said earlier these are my views on the subject and i would rather be extra causious than run the risk of getting a shagged moped!

exactly, you hit top wack very easily. thats what i meant, they are usually constantly working as hard as they can causing mega wear on the engine... Unlike the new GSXR's R6's ect they cannot hit and stay at thier top speed therefore not causing as much wear and tear to the engine. Maybe i was a bit unclear when i first said it but does what i said make sence now?

Here is the problem with mopeds in my eyes! With a 50cc bike it is easy to reach top end, very easy! Most teenagers buy them get on the road and thrash the living lights out of them. When you buy a 2nd hand bike it has usualy had a good old spanking from the first owner. For £400 you would be lucky to get a 2nd hand bike, possible but very unlikely. when you buy a ped for £400 it will have had the dodahs shagged out of it and although it may look tidy and well presented on the outside you dont know the engine is shagged untill you are forking out £600 for a engine rebuild. so in the first place you might as well have wacked that on your first price packet and bought some thing a bit newer! Secondly... mopeds are not what you want to be cutting corners on, no matter how well you ride or how observant you are there is always a risk of comming off! And you dont really want to be riding a bike which could cause more harm to yourself if you are to come off of it. in my local area 4/5 kids a year are killed on 50's and my area is not exactly the biggest of places, no where near as big as portsmouth is (i think i rember reading you were from that way alex!) so i wouldnt really advise buying a £400 bike! You will also need to pay a good packet for some gloves jacket and bash hat! You will also want some good quality jeans and preferably not a pair of DC's! You may feel a dick riding round in a jacket but it only takes 1 meter at 30MPH to grind you arse down to the bone, imagine that on your hips, elbows shoulders ect! so it is worth paying out for some decent quality kit! Then you have to pay your CBT and Provisinal. thats aproximately £160 all in! Then you have to pay insureance, I was going to pay £450 on a brand new RS and that was a offer from the dealer if i was to buy it new! So its not a cheap job! I dont mean to piss on your chios or anything but I was in the same mind as you! I went out and bout a RX50 dirt bike and was like hey its only a years worth! Then i went out to a dealer and the told me the whole story! What i have just said above is pretty much what blokes who had been riding for a good 20 years told me! and i would much rather take thier advise over a friend who has been on the road a month and thinks its great! When i looked at getting on the road i was looking to pay no more than a grand for the bike and the same on kit ect! Then i got talking to people who knew thier stuff and that 2k went up to 4k! I would say its much better getting around on your own for another year! Nick Cater told me to buy a bus ticket when i suggested the idea and i was in the mind of yeah whatever but when you actually go out speak to the people who know thier stuff they will even most probably advise you in the same way! yes the Leon Cupra R Is a tidy car. but if i was in your shoes it would be the Gold GTi 2.0T! i think the astra VXR would give it a fair run for its money but i think the Golf would win overall! Are you talking buing new from the showroom or used? If used id go have a look at some M3's!

There is a company which imports brand new evos skylines ect from japan and i am sure if you was to contact them or some one similar they would be able to help you out! All of the importers i have looked at include the registration MOT and tax to get the car on the road because they have to go through one once in the uk and usually the [rices they quote you will be for the bike/car on the road! i will try and find the dealer i am thinking of for you tommorow if you are intrested? EDIT... Just read you are not after a road bike, sorry ignore what i have just said!

Hard luck mike! Its very unfair in my eyes, did they have any reason to pull you over? or was it one of them stop check things? I know they can pull who ever they want for whatever they want but i think its a bit unfair! I do think its toatly unfair that people get points for things with 50% of the time they do not know about! one of my good friends got pulled over the first day he got his BMW, he was all licenced insured taxed and mot'ed yet the did exactly the same as they have done to you! Yes the TRLS is kind of a old frame. i would really like to ride bmx properly. i am told its very hard to get good at though...

brisia forks are shite if im honest i had a set and snapped them in a week, i was very dissapointed! Mine craced about 15mm up the steer though which i thought was unusual!

Some majorly nice bikes in here. I really want to get into riding bmx, i used to have a old Fit series one a few years back but never really rode it properly. just threw it in the garage. I have been offered a Standard TRLS 250 frame for £30 and a STA OX platinum for £60.... Either of them offers any good?
