i had the same problem, in the end i got bored of using stripper, get a drill and a wire brush attachment like this. youll be finished in about 10 minutes. then just sand it down with a finer sandpaper. looks really good when finished. then you just need to lacquer it if you wanted to keep 'em silver.

I f*ucking hate flys. I ordered one of these out the betterware catalogue to vent my anger. They're well good, its got some batteries and a capacitor that you charge up in the handle (like a flash on a disposable camera) then you swipe a bug with it and they die instantly (blue flash and all).

A ) People who dont like grinds wouldnt buy them (nobody's forcing them) and imo are missing out B ) A thick sidewall wouldnt be needed for grinds if the surface was like that of a grind anyway. Also, a grind basically scratches the surface of the rim to make it rough, if the rim was surfaced like a knurled finish, but maybe in a radial pattern, this would provide more friction and would last longer, even with hard pads. C ) Why would you want to make it any better? Trials shops (for example tarty bikes) refuse to grind an anodised rim due to the masses of dust it gives off, if a company did research into a product like this, then rims like the echo rims would have the performance of a grind, but would be able to keep the anodized finish on the rim sidewall aswell

Is Tar Good For Using On Your Wheels?
blinky replied to g4ngst4_s4m's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Ive ridden both a mod and a stock with tar on the front (both unground) and imo it gives the feel more like a good hydraulic disc brake e.g the hope moni mini trial. Comparing the price of a good v-brake (deores are good enough - £10) with the mini, its quite clear that a little tar can make a big difference, not only in performance, but also in cost too -
Considering two new members already have, there's no harm in trying to keep it going in my opinion. Plus, i think that most new members feel they have nothing to say in reply to most of the threads, meaning they do not get validated. However, if they're anything like me, it is much easier to start/reply to a thread simply telling others about themselves/their bike/how long they have been riding etc.

Or why not just make this thread an intro thread? Surely that would save "so many other pointless threads" being started. So here goes: Hello all, my name is Darren, I live on the Isle of Wight, and ive just started riding trials. I have a t-rex self build at the moment, but im hoping to upgrade to an adamant a2 shortly (well, as soon as i can save up enough!). I've been on here since april (not validated yet though *cough cough*) and im looking forward to being 'let loose' into the main forums . Just wondering if there are many other riders that live on the Island? I already know a couple of members that are on here, just interested if there are many more? Cheers
