I'm sorry but i think that thats an invalid statement. University is the single biggest character building place i have ever been (depending on the way you approach it), its just like one giant network of potential friends and contacts who would be useful in later life. Its where allot of people come out of their shells and become confident in who they are and in their own abilities. I wasn't going to go to uni but then i decided to come on a whim and it was possibly the best decision I have ever made.
With some careers, yes, you are right, uni will not make much of a difference in obtaining the better jobs, but still, a CV with a degree on it will be preferable to one with some GCSE's and A levels.

i work every now and again as a traffic surveyor, 100 quid a day and 5 for each person you refer to the job, long hours, but hey, 100 quid goes a long way when your a student getting pissed midweek!
