harmertrials
Basically one of the magura mounts on my 07 gu typhoon (mod) which I bought about 3 months ago has finally given way, it really has stripped out badly (too much for it to be helicoiled even). Now I don't know what to do, unfortunately tarty are closed on weekends so I can't contact them until monday Obviously the frame is still under waranty so does that mean I can get it replaced? My next problem is the fact that deng has stopped manufacturing the 07 gu frames so will that mean I can choose another deng frame?Any help would be appreciated. basher
Nope theres no chance a=of a replacement for that. Are you sure it cant be helicoiled to m5 as to helicoil ou have to drill the hole bigger than the original hole so that the helicoil when in is the original size. If like you say it wont fit a helicoil for the original m5 thread size then just helicoil it m6 and drill your maggy mounts out bigger slightly to acomodate the bigg bolt. But thats not my point, I shouldn't have to helicoil a nearly new frame. Surely I could get a replacement?

Surely I could get a replacement?no because its not there fault or a manufactureing default its your fault its stripped not theres. If you could prove somehow that the thread was incorrectly tapped then may be yeah but that isnt going to happen is it and surely if that was the case you'd of known at day 1 when getting it. Frames are made out of aluminium which is a soft metal and with such a small thread size thats why they strip usually. Because people try over tightening them or tighten one bolt fully and then start to tighten the other usually resulting in a thread striping rather than tighten both of them tip they nip and then doing them fully.
