Phones 4 U!

Hey,

Basically i got out an 18month contract in August 2006 from Phones4u it was a samsung E900 phone, £35 a month contract bla bla bla, for the last week and a bit whilst at college ive been getting constant phone calls off them but ive been ignoring them as i can hardly answer them in my lesson + i couldnt be asking talking with them. Then on the tuesday just gone they rung my home phone and my mum answered and it was them basically saying my contract was now expiring and would i like to get another contract (at the time we couldnt remember when we got the contract out whilst on the phone with them so just assumed they had the correct information as you would do).

So figuring my contract was running out and i need my phone, i said yeh ok ill get another one, so i answered all his questions about what contract i want, phone, tariff etc then asked him if i get this phone would i still be paying 2 contracts at once, as my current phone wont run out yet, he then said that i would get sent information (which i havent) with the new phone on how to cancel my current contract so i wouldnt be paying for that one aswell. So i thought, ok sounds fine, ill get that then, so i got the phone yesterday, I then ring up Orange who i had my contract with to cancel it to find out it doesnt finish till February 2008!? and that if i wanted to cancel it id have to pay the fee of £103!!?, so now i have a new phone contract and my old phone contract where im paying £35 a month or pay £103 to to cancel it.

And to add extra insult they had me down as a 'Mrs Bond' :turned: on all the documentation i received.

So anyway, im going into my phones4u shop tomorrow as ive tried ringing up the helpline which is having 'too many calls at the moment' and to try again in 48 hours.

I'm assuming i can just give this new phone back as its them that have messed everything up and giving me false information about my previous contract.

Just wondered if any of you have had trouble with Phones4u or have had anything like this happen?

ta.

I did this, got a new phone before the old contract ran out.

The best thing to do, ring orange and ask to be put on the lowest cheapest tarrif. Say something like "im going away for a while and wont be using the phone".

They get funny otherwise.

Then that will be down to about £10 a month, not ideal but saves you a bit of money.

When the end of contract date is about 3-4 weeks away you will need to send them a letter saying you want to cancel the contract (needs to be months notice period) Phones 4 U should give you the address to send it, and sometimes a pre written letter, just add your name and number.

then carry on as normal

Well, went to the phones4u shop in town, told them what happened, they rung up there own customer service line they then sorted it out and told me that they will give me the £103 lol :turned: to cancel my contract, just shows how desperate they are to keep there customers i guess.
