Matt Vandart Posted April 23, 2010 Report Share Posted April 23, 2010 With aluminium, because they accumulate the stresses of riding (can't remember the proper term: I lose), it just means that if they're going to break, it can be on any sized move. I guess it seems like they go on smaller moves just because for the majority of people, you're going to be doing relatively smaller/medium sized moves most of the time, then big moves less frequently. As a result, they've just got more chance of going on a smaller move because you're more likely to be doing one. Fatigue? I think it because aluminum work hardens as the forks flex, they probably snap at the weld because it is a change of x section and the flex is concentrated there (as said a stress raiser).
