The Car Thread

The fucus failed the mot with more chassis welding needed, looking at 300+ to get it sorted so it's going on ebay for cheap.  Looking to get a family wagon now, either a vw touran or for s-max, must be getting old :D

The fucus hasn't done badly though, 1500 quid for the car and spent about 800 quid over the last 5 years to keep it running :)

Best mod you could do on that Civic right now is new numberplates. They transform the car. Looks nice though mate!

Had my new radiator fitted today and obviously did the flush of all the old crap. Runs nicely now.

The unit I went to also had a red bonnet laying around that needs a good polish, but doesn't have any peel or dents - got them to whack it on the car while I was there, so I can give it a clean up this afternoon. Will look (already does!) ten times better than the old one.

Yeah it does need new plates! When I bought the car the listing stated that the owner wanted to keep the reg, so when the V5 comes through it would all have been sorted. 4 months or so on and I still have no log book so I've been reluctant to go get some plates made in this reg. I've applied for a log book now so the reg becomes mine if they dont do anything about it. Dying to get my ek9 recess on haha.

Cheers!

I've got a coded type r recess and some side skirts already to go on when I get round to it. Still got the handles on my old one along with bump strips but they need attention first. I don't mind it with the black in honesty though, against the black wheels think it all works well! For the time being it's not worth doing, it's booked in for a full respray early March and might be going a different colour yet.

Its got got a semi decent head unit that I threw in when I picked it up, but aside from that it's largely standard in that respect. I never really listen to it anyway so no bother for me.

Nice one!

In boring update news, the boot lock on Soph's Golf stopped working in the week. Backed the car up to the garage door, so the door and boot lid would act as a makeshift shelter from the torrential rain and hail we've had this morning and rewired the section that runs through the boot opening as it'd frayed/snapped the wiring causing the issue. Now working perfectly again which is nice, but a little annoyed that since I finished up the rain/hail has stopped and the sun is out. Typical :P

Boring updates? OK:

This door is broken.

I took it off the car, like so:

So I replaced it with this:

It was really easy to replace, I was surprised at how much easier it was than my mk1 Leon. Hopefully Sheryl won't decide to rub her car against a wall again.

Good job. Any plans for the arch too? Obviously a bit more involved to do properly, but a bit of bashing and a rattle can might blend it in a bit.

She's going to get quotes on having it repaired. It's all a complete panel so I can't swap it, it needs cutting out and re-doing :(

The front door needs touching up too, it wasn't bad enough to totally swap over.

I got my michelin pilot sport 3's fitted. Can tell already that they feel much more direct that the uniroyals I had on before, and that's whilst still needing to be scrubbed in.

I shortened down my linkage a few weeks ago by cutting the filtration module down slightly, this helped but I needed it shorter. I can feel the tendons stretching slightly in my arm when going into third indicating it was still a reach away. I wanted it right in front of me having my elbow bent a bit soooooooooooooo. I removed the gear linkage.

This is it standard.

Cutting this amount off seen in the background. I cut slits in the linkage so that it could grip the filtration module

Drove the car back to my house and it feels incredible. Neutral is in the perfect position now too.

Bring on Cadwell next Friday!

A few things left to do prior to that.

- Bought some DS2500 pads from @Korky which he is kindly sending to me before the track day
- Got a sun strip on the way which I'm not sure when I'm going to find time/daylight to do it before the track day
- Need to fit the dashcam to the rear so I get some decent footage at Cadwell
