Lol, for a big heavy passat mine handles quite well on the coilovers, but the tyres rubbing on the rear arch an driveshaft making love to the chassis legs kinda ruin it. Plus spirited driving on a stretch tyres kinda scares me. Lol.

Winters on soon an lift it up abit should make it abit nicer.

I'm a 'function over form' man I think  That's exactly what 'annoys' me about stanced cars. Absolutely each to their own though, I can see why you would want to ruin a car like that ;) (jokes)

Track day yesterday:

On flatter bits like 'A' roads etc (and on track), its insane, handles brilliantly, and makes the back road crapness acceptable!

Its worth bearing in mind that the back roads here in Norfolk/Suffolk are absolutely mullered by tractors, so end up looking like /^^^^^^^^\ in no time, if I stay out of the cambered edge bits, its fine, just the minute I dip a wheel into the cambered bits, my splitter scrapes.

I would in no way say my car was "stanced", its on coilovers, probably about 60mm down, just HATE the massive arch gap they have as standard. To be fair, even on the original springs and shocks, it used to catch the splitter fairly often. I think its more to do with the fact that the front bumper on a LCR is quite deep, so sticks out from the front wheels a lot more than most cars. THAT'S the problem. If I took the splitter off, I could hoon it around back roads as fast as I wanted!

Yeah thats the same as mine George, I am only -35mm but my bumper sits so far forward of the front wheels and pretty damn low that it catches at pretty much any opportunity, it was even bad with the standard -10mm height and splitter! Fortunately I care very little about my splitter, so I can have fun on the Suffolk back roads, which are far more fun than the 'A' roads I find!

Civic looks sa-weeet. Just aggressive enough, not over the top!

I don't like cars with 'lows' though :$

Its not actually that low at all! just the 235/40 tyres fill the arches well! Front tyres rub on the fender abit need them rolled/pulled!

Got bored and did this! hopefully be alot better once the lsd is in!

Civic looks pretty quick, how much power has it got? I seem to recall you saying 240ish bhp?

Amazing how you don't appear to have any traction issues in 1st!

Trackday looked greesy ads, the little salon wagon goes well :)

Still want Alex's M3 too, but I'll plod on with the A3!

So, a long period of not much to report here, I've been waiting for 3 weeks on a clutch plate from the states, but that's finally arrived, so I've been able to crack on :)

Turbo bolted on with actuator spaced by Dan to get it working squarely:

Old plate after 4k miles:

Clearly the old hadn't worn much at all!

Cleaned up the flywheel, Don't even remember seeing this engraving when JP sent it to me:

Day 1 complete, I did everything I planned to today, so I think I deserve a beer :)

Before putting the engine back in, I removed the offending driveshaft that has been the entire reason behind this build, you can see how the flange has torn as it's done it's damage:

Brand new OEM shaft to go on there tomorrow.

I decided I couldn't bugger around forever, so it was time to start moving things.

I got the engine up nearer the car, and ready to fit the gearbox:

New release bearing to go:

I've got so many of these lying around, all of which have done less than 5k miles, but for the sake of £8 it's got to be changed.

Box bolted up:

And she's all ready to go home to the engine bay!

CAB90D5A-49CF-497C-829E-594E60814F3E-5946-000004DB61CE0FF9.jpg

I put towels down and walked it into the engine bay on the ground as far as I could until the Diff hit the subframe:

Almost there!

F118EB39-52CF-4A2A-BF62-6433A88BD865-5946-000004DB67400B0D.jpg

And it's IN!!!!

Finally, in the engine bay, on it's mounts, things are looking up :)

I went to look for the clutch slave to refit that, and could only find 2 old ones. Not knowing if they would leak or not, and with such an expensive clutch plate in there, I decided not to risk it, so went back to GSF and bought a new slave cylinder.

027DDD13-CA08-4912-ADF2-0F89A5884673-5946-000004DB833D797E.jpg

Then on the way home, Jardo's Dad rang me up and asked if I wanted my slave cylinder back any time soon.

D'OH! I'd forgotten it was on the old box when I took it to him. Oh well, can never be too safe :)

With the new slave fitted, I refitted the gear cable bracket and set up the gear linkage with the TT short shifter. I noticed one of the rod ends is slightly bent, but it doesn't seem to be effecting the shift action at all, which feels perfect straight away :)

I've connected up all the wires I can so far, coilpacks, power steering, knock sensors, crank sensor etc etc....

This is how I left it this evening:

2EED8B13-6542-440E-AE86-FFBD5C02D779-5946-000004DB8FDCF372.jpg

Tomorrow I'll connect the shafts and dog bone mount, then the rest and hopefully fire it up!

Fanx bro. x

Proper excited about FMIC and exhaust, will be good to man it up a bit.

-

I'll post this on here, but I doubt many of you will want it. :P

I've been having talks with a guy called Bruce who imports Devils Own water meth.

I've been looking at getting this kit - http://www.alcohol-i...l-stage-1a.html

I'm hoping to start up a group buy, if anybody fancies it?

AEM is very expensive compared to the Devils Own; both use a 250PSI pump and both are similar quality as far as I can see. All the AEM kit offers is a progressive controller which if mapped in properly I can't see it needing.

Anyway, you can upgrade the DO kit to run their progressive controller at any time.

DELIVERED I am hoping for £200; Bruce has said to get interest and then let him know numbers and he'll sort it out his end.

Nothing wrong with a second hand clutch, it's done 4K and has less than 0.2mm wear on it. That £60 I've just saved by Prawn upgrading is a tank of fuel, a bag of coke, a Stack boost gauge ;)

For anybody who doesn't know how WMI works to give you a basic run through it cools the air/fuel charge on a chemical level and also raises the octane level of the charge.

Best way to explain it is watch this video -

And no, it isn't hype it actually does exactly what it says.

Currently 249bhp, want to rotrex or turbo it next year!

It is actually wheel spinning abit in first, hence hitting the limiter, I think going from 205 too a 235 has helped the traction side of things though!

Would love to have the space to rip my motor apart like yours, good work!

249 is bloody going! Looks cool :)

Jardo - the AEM progressive kit is only £290 shipped, so really not that bad. I prefer the idea of a progressive controller every time.

With a boost switch, it's either coming on early and flooding the engine a tad causing a hesitation, or it's coming in too late and temps have already started to rise so it has more work to do.

Inject low at low boost, and high at high boost. It makes engineering sense :)

I know it makes a bit more sense to have it progressive, Mylo's isn't though. He seemed to think that the switch was enough and progressive is unnecessary.

We'll see, Mylo and Sam have given me the go-ahead to advertise the group buy on SSS and within the Terrorist Squad so I'll see who wants what and if people want progressive that's what I'll end up with :)

Running yet?
