So here it is, keep chat to a minimum, just a quick bit of info with your pic. I've finally taken the plunge and bought myself a brand new all round bike. Mostly it will be used for riding around barracks during the week then trails on a weekend like Cannock, Coed Y Brenin, Bedgebury, Grizedale etc etc It's a 2013 Trek Fuel EX8 totally standard fresh out of the box today, just done about half a mile on Shipley Glen to make sure gear brakes etc work ok 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Is that a Vertical upfront? My Rubber Queens are just too tall for my frame/forks, I need more clearance but I realy like how the Queens feel.... Tom Booth Posted March 2, 2013 Report Share Posted March 2, 2013 Mountain kings drag loads, replaced them now for race kings front and back and I've noticed no great loss in traction/grip, just plenty more speed. Carrera Vulcan (old style frame) and thats the only thing that's been left standard. I am looking to replace the frame and forks for something a little better. It has an XT groupset, 50mm verde stem, rock shox judy forks, dmr wingbars, hope hubs, mavic rims, el gato tyres (just because they have the brown wall) and bb5 front & rear Excuse the snow, was taken before i set off home from work. Carrera subway frame Mavic disc wheels Carrera kraken forks i think Zoom seat post Carrera something or other ladies seat Try-all rage 08' bars Shimano saint front disc brake 180mm rotor Formula RX rear disc brake 160mm rotor Its a single speed looking to put gears on it though. The bike cost £40 then upgraded the wheels for £100 so cost me all of £140 so far. Front brake is from my trials bike which is out of use atm. Not as such but I had a test day on Saturday and tried a few bikes out and I instantly felt more at home. Easier up hill, faster down and more fun in between. I wish it wasn't the case but I can't deny how much more fun the bikes were to ride than my Five. I'm happy and sad at the same time as it'll be a shame to get rid of it but i'll be a better rider for it. We'll have to get a ride in on the Five's before it's gone. P.S. When is your Skye due back? One of the Mega's I think, not sure which one yet. I rode them both and they were both excellent. Both pedalled a lot nicer and were both more lively down hill. The AM was just crazy downhill, really confidence inspiring whereas the TR was less so but felt really nimble so on the non-black runs it felt nice and quick and was fun over the jumps and cornered really nicely.
