Visiting London - Where are the spots?

9 posts in this topic

Not sure this is the right forum... sorry if it isn't.

I'm visiting London for a week starting Saturday 30/8. I'll be staying in the Notting Hill area, and I will have my Inspired with me.

Any good riding spots in the area?

Where spots are there in London that are worth travelling to?

Anyone live/ride in the area that would want to go out for a ride?

Also planning on heading out to check out Radical Bikes on 6/9, weather permitting. Anyone else planning on riding then?

Cheers,

Jonathan

Dude - wish I could make it over there to ride with you! Hope you have a rad time.

In terms of spots, I'll try and dig out some of the Google Maps things I've made in the past. Some of it's a little out of date now, but it should still give you an idea. If you want to get a rough idea of where the majority of the 'famous' spots are though, if you head to Waterloo Bridge (near Waterloo Station, Westminster, Millennium Eye, Houses of Parliament, etc.), you'll find South Bank. If you head east from there along the river you'll start seeing all the relatively well known spots in London.

I'll try and track some of those maps down though as they'll probably be more useful!

Is there a general google maps spot list around for London? It would be great to compile a community one, I'm sure everyone on this forum visits every once in a while :)

Cheers Mark! Those directions will be a good guide for riding on Sunday. Maps would be awesome as well, for the rest of the week.

I know a little late in your week but I would be able to offer a ride next Saturday with a few london locals? (Potentially a kid week evening ride) There are spots dotted all over and you will typically find something to ride no matter where you go' marks guide is a preety good start, there are plenty of spots around elephant and castle too etc

Hey Matt,

Sorry for the slow reply - I'm planning to head out to Barrow Farm on Saturday if the weather is decent (which it looks like it will be). Would you be able to ride tomorrow (wednesday) evening? I will also probably sneak out for a ride on Thursday afternoon.

Found a couple of spots I recognized down by the river on Sunday. Lots of really good stuff out there!

Masses of undiscovered riding potential near Stratford and within the Olympic Park. Gotta find time to get pics done and map out the spots

Sorry dude, fully forgot about the maps. Here are some random ones compiled over the past few years. As a result some stuff's a little out of date but it should give you an idea...

This is one from a parkour site but there's still some good stuff to ride in it:

One question. Once you have set-up your own google map account and start mapping out spots with street-view, can you upload additional photos of a location if street-view doesn't show the the ride spot ie; Emirates cable car ride, there are rideable concrete blocks set-up like a maze but you can't view it on street view. The grey coloured concrete bench blocks below are about 26-27inches high and vary in length.
