Vapers Thread

That doesn't surprise me at all. Hopefully it'll put a stop to think "they're just as bad a normal cigarettes" hysteria.

"Studies" being compromised by being "sponsored" or "funded" by corporations or companies with a vested interest is nothing new, but surely you can see that there might be a slight bit of work behind the scenes here if it's a study by BAT, who happen to own a contract (or are pushing for one) with the NHS to provide e-cigarettes to people told to quit smoking?

Not getting into anything about the nuts and bolts of it, but that is massively questionable, especially bearing in mind the lobbying that BAT/the rest of the tobacco industry have done in the past anyway.  I mean from their own website:

"We will continue investing substantially in the research, development and commercialisation of a pipeline of products. We are also using the insights from our experience in the UK to support Vype’s launch in further markets."

...but still, I'm sure that research is completely legit.

I get where your coming from, but there isnt anything harmful in a cigarette, it only becomes a problem when you burn it, combustion produces the bad stuff, vaping doesnt burn anything so i can believe its 95% better for you than a cigarette. Not safe just better and should only be used to get off cigarettes, anyone just blowing clouds for fun is crazy in my eyes.

Yeah I know what you mean Mark. But I personally believe any study is going to come up with the same thing. It's healthier than smoking. To what degree can be argued and altered by bias and hidden agendas, but it's still better.

Can't stand it when I tell smokers about vaping, and how because I got into it has probably permanently stopped 7-8 people from smoking, just roll their eyes and say "yeah it's worse for you".

Yeah, I mean it's undoubtedly better than smoking a cigarette so I wouldn't dispute that, it's just that them working to a figure as high as that only really benefits them in the long run.  To be fair, I don't think I'd really take on board any health advice about stuff like that from an active smoker because there's got to be some kind of denial or refusal to believe facts if they're smoking in the first place with the proven links to cancer and stuff :P

Not vaping is 100% healthier for you than vaping. Same with smoking, drinking, drugs and a myriad of other things. Not rolling eyes at each other would be 100% healthier for both sides of any debate too. Unfortunately humans, with our incredible need to have everyone else agree with our individual view, are involved.

You are all entitled to my opinion.

I think I read about that BBC show and it was mainly about nicotine and flavourings.

As previously said in was conducted by big tobacco. Every one saying it's better than smoking etc the fda agrees they aren't saying it's bad for you.

They want every flavouring to be 100% tested. Only big tobacco can afford this, each flavouring can cost millions to get permission to sell on the market. Some vaping companies have tried, one spent over 4 million US Dollars trying and not one flavouring was accepted.

Vaping as we know it will die, I don't want to pay big tobacco, the people who were killing me in the first place for the better alternative.

Flavorings are no worse than the pollution in the air now.

I wonder if companies will just skip the flavoring all together? VG is naturally sweet anyway, mixing it 80/20 VG/PG, toss in some nicotine I think it would be fine, would they even need to test it?

Doubt it, people can do that themselves very easily. Nicotine base is changing too in strength think it's 12mg instead of 74mg a lot of people use now.

I don't know the insides and out of this but I presume the market may become a bit shady with juices stating not for human consumption. A bit like the loop hole legal highs were using. Nic maybe even be sold as a RC for the home brewers.

Looking to upgrade my mod while retaining my Triton tank. I do have an Atlantis 2  to use too which I also liked. The coils are pretty much identical anyway.

Nothing too extreme, an iStick 100W would probably do the trick but suggestions otherwise are welcome.

And that's pretty much it, at least until I can put marijuana related products in it I'm just gonna keep on practicing blowing smokerings.

Read it, studied it and tried my hardest but i still don't get it.

  • 6 years later...

Was in the UK a few weeks ago and noticed a ton of people vaping. I didn't realise that it got so big, there's way more people on regular cigs back home and the vaping somehow never took off.

And then I found out how much a pack of cigs costs in the UK, which probably partly explains it..

5-year bump of that stopping smoking thread reminded me of this shit show. Any of you still sucking on portable radios?

Yeah but I switched to one that you can put "herbs" in now. :flowers:
