I remember studying those Trials Academy pages so much (although I seem to remember they were also released as a stand-alone mag at some point?)

Anyone who’s seen me ride knows it didn’t help, maybe I should’ve ridden more than read about it.

Juuust before my time but great to see!

Was never a fan of the full race/sponsor kit but like the close up shots of the bikes QR wheels, DCDs...

1999 was such a great year for riding! But then we probably all have happy memories of our earlier years. I definitely see 1998 to 2002 as a kind of golden era.

Yeah that was my kind of time, finished school for exam leave in late spring 99 and spent every single day out riding rather than revising. Didn't really pay off though as I was still shit but having fun

I've always thought this must have been the best group ride EVER.

All on the 'Contact' video for those who missed it first time round.

8 mins for UK footage.

This thread always makes me regret throwing away a collection I had from issue 1 (my Dad had started the collection) all the way through to whatever issue it would’ve been in mid 2004.

Got myself into a crap situation accommodation wise and had to make some drastic cuts, that was one of them... Doubt I’d have kept buying them all the way through to now but all those old issues would’ve been handy now!

These old mags make me nostalgic, as does Contact.  I think I was first exposed to trials around 2000, so pretty much the same magic that brought me into the sport twenty years ago.  I was 10 years old back then, so pretty damn young.  Sadly,  I think at 29...I'm the youngest rider I know of stateside.  There's no fresh blood anymore.

Forgot how shite RB levers were. such a shame they were beautiful

Loved mine!!

Anyhow, if anyone has some "Search for a Trials Star" from 2005 or 2006 that would be great! It was myself, Shrewsbury, Fatmike, Nick Manning.

There was also an article following the finals following the bike show...

@Tony Harrison - wondering if you can help! I’m on a nostalgic hunt to find out which issue was my first edition of MBUK I ever bought. It involved this euro road trip vhs free on the front - I’ve had a look through 2002 issues and unless it was Jan / Feb it wasn’t one of those. I think it is 2001? Would you know?
