Quote from "Walt's Rants"

What's wrong with long chainstays?

This is a rant aimed at all the 29er fans out there. It seems like every other day or so I get asked to build a 29er with super short chainstays. Why? Short chainstays aren't going to make a noticeable difference in traction when standing on the pedals (the most common reason I hear) and they aren't going to transform your bike into a super nimble switchback-riding weasel. Long stays, on the other hand, keep things wicked stable on the descents and allow you to ride steep stuff with way more confidence.

You could get a trials frame from him. Might have long stays though?

The guys is probably a very apt and able engineer, but his expertise may not span out far enough to make a good trials frame;

Trials is totally different though I guess.

I reckon he just cant do short stays, and keep good chainring/tyre clearance :)

Leeson engineering and inginuity got round that, its going to be interesting to see how this guy copes with it.
