Recommended Posts

I have a random hayes hfx9 lying around. It has an 8 inch rotor and therefor has a large adaptor type thing.

My problem being that my adaptor thing fouls the disk really badly. Any help on what to do please??

appreciated

On what plane is it catching?

Up/down or side to side?

It may be the incorrect adaptor for that size of rotor, or you may have a non international standard (IS) mount on your fork/frame.

If this is the case, you need to find out the size, and buy a new adaptor to suit.

Is it being used on the correct end of the bike? When i tried to run a rear one on the front the rotor rubbed against the mount like you said, however it maye just not be fitted properly. If you could get a picture up that could help us find out whats wrong with it ;)

I reckon its one of three things

1. Wrong adaptor bracket, or on upside down

2. Damaged frame/fork disc brake tabs - take off the bracket and examine - if you not used them before they might have paint on the mounting faces

3. Hub or frame/fork is wrong/damaged - swap the wheel and see if it improves
