lee220
I ordered an avid ball bearing seven about a month ago and this is my review on them covering most of important agenda's. Firstly setting it up This is as easy as 1 2 3 it doesn't take a couple of minutes which is great if it gets knocked out of line on a ride. Also when this brake is setup its so easy to adjust the TPA because there are several ways to do this: 1) Adjust the barrel adjuster on the lever. 2) Adjust the two red screws ether in or out. This adjusts how close the pads are to the rotor. 3) Adjust the cable. Performance The Performance of this brake is amazing, once bedded in, it has the ability to immediately stop with more or less any rider on it. you may be thinking that so can the mono but this brake has alot more power than it and is alot more reliable and cheaper. Disadvantages There aren't many disadvantages of this brake but i think that because you have to buy levers and cables separate it puts people off buying the brake. Also the fact that its cable powered, because cables snap quite alot and its annoying having to buy new cables every month or so. So overall i recommend this brake as its very reliable and the power of this brake is unbelievable and you can't go wrong with the price can you. CurtisRider
Also the fact that its cable powered, because cables snap quite alot and its annoying having to buy new cables every month or so.thats utter bullshite...either the person who installs your cables is a retard (be it yourself or somebody else), or you are talking out of your arse...they last bloody ages, ive never had 1 snap on me, even the ones i havent bother to maintain have still been good, if the cables are fraying you have probably made a shit job of cutting the outer

It bent his disc too, thats it!!You need to be a total N00B to kill an Avid on fitting
Krisboats
I've never snapped a brake cable in all my years of riding bikes and i've only ever seen one snap, which was fair enough as it was over 3 years old and had freyed quite badly. If you manage to snap a new cable you are most definately an idiot. And as for the review, its a bit short isn't it? A two line performance section ? How about saying how easy the Tri align caliper positioning system is to use or how well does the brake perform when dragged as opposed to short quick pulls on the lever? Brake fade? Durability? Lever feel? Brake response? Comparitiveness to other cable discs? How is it more reliable than a hope, care to tell us why you think it is?Theres so much more you could have written, this has to be one of the worst reviews i've seen in a while.
