I'm Back

Hey guys and girls.

Some of you will know that I took a longer than average break to riding trials around 4-5 months ago, and haven't rode since.

Now, last week my bike was stolen, and this is the ammunition I need to get back into trials. This is because my insurance company will give me 500 pounds worth of bike to play with from now.

The point is, I dont know what to get...

I'd like a mod, because I had a stock last time, I just wondred if there was any bikes particuarly worth getting?

I want, a fairly light rig, armed with hs33's front and rear , or a disc, but this kinda price range pisses on that a bit.

I was looking at the 06 t-lite ?

So, Suggestions? ^_^

Many thanks

Dean

monty 221PR :)

I'm very happy with mine, ecspecialy because i was able to get it for just €850:P

The rear disc might just be a marta but i'm happy with it, just take some water with you each ride

and pour it over the disc and it's equal, if not better than a hs-33

You could look at an echo lite if you prefer something longer

T-Comps don't ride particularly nicely either, to be honest. If you dig the Monty feel I guess it might be OK, but I was never a fan.

Deanie-B - with that spec it won't be particularly light, but that frame will cover up most of that. I loved mine - it's not as light as a comp bike, but it sorta 'rides light' because of the geometry of it. They're super good frames, and definitely worth going for. That basic spec should last for a while too, I know that my first set of Onza forks lasted about a year and a half to 2 years before they snapped, the cranks should last well, wheelset will too, etc. - it's just a good quality bike for not much money at all (Y)

When you say this, sounds pretty attractive.

To be totally honest, I want the lightest possible, statistically, rather than a 'feel'. I want a bike that is short, yet not too short, considering im a fairly big lad, I just want a change from my longer old stock bike.

I'm 6'1" and it felt like it fitted me, rather than being too short like my T-Lite and T-Pros from before were. I found I didn't really hit my thighs on ups, or gaps half as much, and it felt way better for doing stuff to front. But yeah, your call really.

No? In that it was when I was on the upward, vertical launch part of tapping or pedalling up stuff where you pretty much have to be as upright as you and the bike can be? All it was was that the front ends of the other bikes are short, so I was pretty much screwed. In fairness, it was only when it was in the 45"-50" and over sorta range when it happened, but it was still bloody annoying and a blessed relief when I got the Zip frame.

I can't remember who it was (May have been Phil Williams?), but I know a stock rider had a similar problem and used to have shinpads on their thighs for the same reason.

i think you are beiong ignorant to the fact that a lighter bike will not neccessarily be better then a bike that his heavier but has better geometry. i assure you that a zona is a much better bike than a t-comp or t-lite, and if your a "big lad" you shouldn't need to worry about the weight of a trials bike as they're all pretty light.

zona for the win i love the way they feel i dont really get on with the standerd bar and stem but thats only a small thing i really like them and they look just like the 06 python wich is lovely what more could you ask for really for the price its the nuts i think its how the t-pro used to be cheap yet very good for the price :) just get a zona lovely and you cant really go rong.

cheers Jack (Y)

I'm pretty okay on short mods..

I rode a 221 for about a month, and quite liked it.

I'm not ignorant at all, I just want a light bike on this occasion, I dont see that as ignorant, I see that as someone who wants to try something different to what he's used to?

And who can say a bike has "Better Geometry"? You either like it or you dont :]].

To me, it's really that simple.

I was just asking for balanced opinions (Y)
