Phil H
Snapped my chain today. Took out the link and put it back together. Now I have a beasty stiff link.Ive tried working it back and forth but didn't help too much. Oiled it and left it to soak in a minute ago.Anything else I can do?Cheers, Phil Edited February 26, 2007 by Phil_Onza
Ash-Kennard
try to bend it sideways, as in, not the way it would fold up.
Phil H
try to bend it sideways, as in, not the way it would fold up.Yeh tried that and tried it after the oil had worked its way in.Not having much luck, If I could find the spare bit of the chain I'd just put some of it in but not sure where it is.Ahhh hassle.Phil
Ash-Kennard
twat it with a hammer for a bit?
Walleee
twat it with a hammer for a bit?no you want top seperate it rather than mash it together that would make it stiffer, when your putting it back together you need to make sure you dont catch any of the actual link under the pin, that'll give you a sticky link, but yeh try and seperate it a bit without destroying the chain. Krisboats
Get two thin allen keys and slide them into each sprocket tooth hole either side of the stiff join. Push/pull them in opposite directions to each other a little bit and it'll lossen your link off quite nicely. Cheap, quick and easy.... without a need to get your hands mucky
