Trialdan
Hey everyone.I picked up my new trial bike this afternoon afterwork. Its a Mission Compo Magura 20" Mod.Im really impressed with it so far, seems well built and feels nice to ride. Ive been riding in the garage for a few hours and just learning the basics. I started to learn the rear wheel hop but could only go backwards but i can now hop on the spot. Im having trouble with the pedal flick though.I took all the reflectors and bell off and lowered the tyre pressure before i started riding. I need some brake boosters, especially on the back so im gona have a look for some of these at the weekend. Cant wait, just wanna get practicing. Concussion
I took all the reflectors and bell offGood start! Welcome to trials, hope you stick with it and improve that pedal kick technique. You know this place right?
Dani.
It's always a good idea to invest in some decent rear brake pads if it isn't already equipped with some, because as you'll find out, when you're beginning, you tend to rely more on the brake than necessary especially when learning to hop around on your back wheel. There's a whole bunch of trials adapted magura brake blocks which will hopefully stop you in times of need. As for the "pedal flick" don't sweat it, it's a lot easier than it appears at first! In a few days of practice you'll be moving forwards nicely just don't forget to release the brake when you "flick" the pedals.

Trialdan
Thanks everyone, The rear brake was spot on at locking up for the first two days but its now starting to slip. Im gona get some brake boosters for the back as i can see it pushing the frame out.Ive just had another few hours on it and im finally getting the pedal kick. I also started 1 finger braking and it feels quite comfortable now.In the words of Ronald Mcdonald, Im loving it. Thanks for the link, that will be very helpful to me. Grinding? Rock pads? Eh?Start by getting yourself some roofing tar (aka bitumen). Just a little bit, it'll go a long way. Rub it round your rims, but not too much because your pads will stick, just a light dusting until you start to feel your brake workin 20x better and becoming 50x noisier! Ive still got the old maggies pad on my zoo, they work pro with a light tar, why fix what isnt broken?Just keep practicing is the best way to go, get out and ride as much as poss and once you get the hang of things you'll do well. Trialdan
Ok, was going out for a ride and was chewing a rowntrees fruit gum. I chewed it for a while and rubbed it around my rear rim and it works much better. Alot noisier though. lol.Im getting the hang of the pedal kick too. The 1 finger braking helps alot.Gona order some brake boosters from Tartybikes, any reccomendations as to which are good?. The bolt space is about 95mm. Alan
As long as you get a MOD booster you should be fine (Compo is 20 inch yeh?) 2 bolt or 4 shouldn't really matter, Just get one that will look nice with your bike, As most of tarty's boosters will be stiff enough for you Edited April 28, 2007 by Alan
