And what you mean pattern im guessing you mean how many crosses, i hope so if not i think a flower pattern would be nice 3 cross is generally used on mod rear wheels. Danny Kearns
4 cross ? Strongest... Saying that. As i have found with building some wheelbuilds. Your spokes depend on what build croos you can do. Im not 100% on that.Danny.

Anodised Adamant
4 cross is the best for mod wheels because thats how i lace mine up

PaRtZ
Ive used 4 cross builds for most of my wheelbuilds, except for times when I forgot to ask tarty I want 4x. 3x is still good though, and saves weight!!!!!!!!!! lmao (because shorter spokes = less spoke material)
ogre
how do more Xes make a wheel stronger? i have an idea in my head i just can't explain it. essay please?
basher
how do more Xes make a wheel stronger? i have an idea in my head i just can't explain it. essay please? The best way to explain it is to compare radial to crossed spokes. Braking wise its alot stiffer, if you think of a blank of wood stood striaght up and you push perpendicular to it, it will fall over easy. if you have a blank of wood at a angle and you push in the same direction parallel to the floor then it is alot hard for it to fall over. As for flex side to side, im not sure how to explain. The more crosses the more of the gap inbetween hub and rim is covered meaning there is more tension in all spots of the wheel so when the rim is trying to flex over it is harder as there are more tensioed spots countering it. Im sure someone can explain it alot better than i have tryed to.
RobinJI
Yep, I've used four cross on many wheel builds and it doensn't snap the spokes, well, it does if theres less then 36 of em, like said above. So for a 32 whole wheel 3X is your best bet.
mods
i didn't have to advise them i just wanted to, but as it happens it's being done 3x so thats good enough, thanks for you input though
