  1. Candytown Classic trials  competition is back for 2018!

We have brought the Classic comp back this year in June this time around. This comp is open to all levels of riders from beginner to pro.   The Comp is held in Elizabethtown Pennsylvania at the Candytown motorcycle club on June 3 2018. Registration starts at 8:30 to 10 with the rider meeting to follow.  Cost to compete is $25. Spectators are free.

If you are reading this and you have never ridden a trials bike,  your in luck. We will be making the beginner sections mountain bike friendly. We want to try and grow the sport and hopefully get some mountain bike riders into the sport of trials.  you think that the beginner lines are too easy for your abilities, then try the sport level lines. This will be MTB friendly for the most part but you may need some basic trials skills under your belt. You never will know where you stand unless you show up to the competition.

We will have a try out line for anyone to ride that will test your skills before you decide to register for the competition.

Please check the link below for the event details.

  2. Hello everyone,

I just posted up my new documentary video. This tells my story from when I had sight up to the point of losing my sight. I explain what it took to get back on my bike again.

Check it out and let me know what you think. Please spread it around. The more exposure I can get the better. Every bit helps.

  3. Hello everyone,

A while back a guy asked me if he could draw a photo of me and have me autograph it. He said that it would be sold for charity for the blind. well the time has come for the auction. There isn't much time left to get a really awesome drawling autographed by Matt Gilman the Blind Bike Trials Rider.

This is totally for the blind in the UK. All proceeds go to help the visually impaired in the UK with things that they need such as learning tools and costs.

Please do what you can by spreading the word or even placing a bid. The auction is on ebay.

I hope this hasn't been posted or if it is even in the right place.

Again it is an autographed drawling of me the 'Blind Bike Trials rider'.

More info at the link below.

    Please do what you can.

    Thanks,

    Matt

  4. I love all the stereotypes that are in this thread. Just because you saw something on television or read something on the internet doesn't make it so.

The idiiots in the world get the most attention because it is entertaining. Then they get labeled as the majority, when that is not the case.

Pretty much everyone in real life outside the TV or internet is normal and not a jerk off as seen on TV.

If you live close to the US or don't visit the US, then you can't give a fair judgement. All you know is what you see on the internet or TV.

I go on OTN but I am not labeled as "one of those" So .... Unless I am?

If I said that everyone in the UK or Canada was stupid because of a few actions by one or two people on the internet, would that be fair. Judging everyone on the actions of the minority is not right nor does it make you a smart person. Not trying to call anyone out but you just have to have all the facts before you say some of the things that are being said.

    Merry christmas!!

  5. Hey all,

I recently got skype working on my computer. I was just seeing if anyone here used it? If you do and would like to catch up then do so. It's sweet to be able to talk to other riders from so far away.

    My user name is blind_bike_trials

    Thanks ,

    Matt

  6. That was an interesting listen.

Respect for managing to hold it together for nearly 20 minutes! Trials is hard enough to explain to someone who has been watching you ride, let alone to someone over the phone while its being broadcast live over the radio!

I recently watched Kranked 8 and there is a section on there about a blind mountain biker in Canada. It was crazy, he is totally blind in his left eye and I think he said he has around 20% vision in his right eye, it was pretty crazy! He follows his friends down the hills to guide him! He was getting air over jumps as well :P

Yeah the guy you are talking of is Bobby McMullen and he is a pretty coool dude. It's insane how he can ride so fast around things that don't move when you hit them such as trees. I personally like going slow. I have mad respect for him.

Thanks to everyone who listened to it. I have another one in a week or so. The one coming up, the interviewer actually came out to interview me while I was riding. It is also a radio interview.

  7. Hey all

I wasn't really sure where to put this.

I had a radio interview recently and it is up on their website. It really promotes trials. we also talk about my disability briefly. Not sure what you all with think since it is a local station in another country.

Either way I think it is good for trials. This was my second radio interview but the first to air. The other one on anotherr station will air sometime this week. I will post that one up as well.
