Ok i whipped the bb out after trying Dave's suggestion (bit cheeky though, done it with molegrips ) but before i even cleaned the splines etc I span the spindle and its as rough as hell...
Its funny isnt it, how the momentum of the cranks makes everything seem to run oh so smooth in there?!
As soon as the cranks were off it was pretty obvious what the problem was. Theres a whole lotta grinding in there...
Anyway, thanks for your help guys, much appreciated,
new bb it is!!
If it still cracks then, well, new frame...DOH. I've checked it all over pretty well though and it all looks pretty mint...so fingers crossed!
Chris

yea im up for it (once again!) but my bikes apart at mo, need a bb...unless any of you guys have one
Im just off aldershot rd
-
while we are on an ebay kinda subject, does anyone know whats with all these 'bidder 1/2/3' people....they are the only ones that have bid on the bike so far
or are they not actual bids, just a way of bumping up the price by the seller?
gorgeous bike Dan

Hi guys,
My bottom bracket is making a horrible clicking sound, theres NO play in the bb atall, just the clicking when putting pressure on the pedals...
Its a Travativ isis Giga pipe DH. Is there any way to fix this or does is simply mean my bearings are shot??
Would appreciate suggestions...

Ah well, ive baught a tensile now!
Theyre quite big so im hoping it wont get in the way of my seat
Cheers El!
Chris

As title,
Have the option of one or the other at mo to run on the rear (mainly because they're the only 2 that will fit on my frame)
I have heard that the Tensile booster is incredibly stiff, so im swayed more towards that at the mo
Whats the echo like?? (not the echo control by the way, im talking about the black and silver one)
Thanks

Anyone know what pads to suggest to me...Was thinking Koxx browns, they seem to match my requirements according to the reviews on ere, jsut wanted to know if theres much out that atall similar??
Have one side smooth, one side dead grind...might be grinding other side to match though...
Dont really like loud loud breaks to be honest, but love lots of hold after some modulation....any suggestions aswel as Browns??
Oh and long lasting...
Cheers guys

Alright lads, got the bike.
Just got a few bits I wana sort on it first though...
Check out my post about it in Classifieds bit, see if you got anything, would save on postage if your here already
Prob b up for a ride in a week or so??
Chris

Oh and while were here....iv got a broken spoke,
Need to know Spoke lengh for;
Hope XC onto An old D521 rim (32hole)
Farely common setup, so i thought someone might know straight off
Thanks!
Chris
Oh and im not entirely sure of the lacing pattern....?
-
First things first, get some 4 bolt mounts. I reckon that should sort the problem, because having a narrower rim should not make you have to change the angle of the cylinders, merely how far in you have to put the cylinders in the mounts.
If it doesn't work then get a new rim. But the four bolt mounts should move the maggies down the seatstays, and make them meet the rim square imo
Good luck.
Yea thats what I thought??? Its not the width thats the problem surely, the pads are able to reach the rim when braking just fine, its just that they are too high..
So, it looks like ill be getting some 4bolt mounts to start off with...see if they sit lower n the frame.
if that dont work, a new rim it is then....?!
Failing that, a new frame lol
Im just very limited on funds...so would much prefer to keep as much as poss as it is without expendature.
Am prepared to fork out for some 4bolt mounts...does anyone have some lying around they could sell me for a reasonable price?
Or lawnmowerman...You prepared to do a swap? Theres no quick release thingi on the right mount...but i do have the special quick release bolt.
Thanks alot guys for all your input,
Is there any more suggestions anyone has??
Chris
Yeah, mps frames are suited to take a wide rim around 47mm and 4 bolt mouunts so if you hav neither your likely going ot get it trouble.Oh and what exactly is an MPS frame?
