hi people,
Some of you may think that I am a little stupid asking this but if you don't ask you'll never know, right??
I am wanting to know the difference between mod and stock bikes...
I thought that they were just 20" bikes with extras but was recently told that they were 26" bikes with upgraded frames such as horizontal drop-outs etc.
This confused me and I was wondering if someone could just tell me what the difference is?? lol
Cheers.. CJ
I used to think mods were modified bikes and stocks bikes were just from straight out of a shop i got very confused as which i only had noticed when i opend my first topic

your best bet is to look on ebay at trials, you can pic up onza t-vees in good condition for around about 120
just go on ebay and search trials then click on cycling
i dont think there is much on there at the moment but just keep looking and you'll get a bargain!
or search onza :$
good idea i shall do it right now
Don't blow all your money on one yet. Buy a second hand one off here or ebay.
That way you will get a half decent spec bike which shouldn't need upgrading. But you are unsure on what parts you will need. Just get someone in the know how to tell you if that 'python 05' (for example) second hand is what you need and doesn't need upgrading or need any repairs.
This way you won't waste loads of money, realize it's too hard, not fun and you then want a bmx. Or end up wanting a different bike.
You shouldn't blow 1000 pound on a first bike really. Wait until you find what style fits you best and what spec you really need after riding for a few months or so.
If your heart is set on getting a new one though, try these...

Damn you posted another post before i posted.
150 won't get you very far. You say 'wreck'. Do you mean you don't want to break a new bike. Don't worry no matter how good you are bike always break. Just do what i said.
But if you really can't afford 300/400 then do the ebay thing.
no i dont want a brand new one i would like a t-bird with maguras hs33

okay i have seen a t-bird on ebay i think i shall bid on it

Well it all depends on how much money you have got and if you are looking for a mod (20inch) or stock (26inch). I would suggest you look on here tarty bikes
Look on tarty at the built bikes at the top!
im looking for a 20" but i only want one for around 100-150 because i dont want to wreck a dear bike
and i dont want to buy one brand new either

what type of bike should i get to learn on
becuase i still dont have a trials bike
thanks matty

This is certainly the case. I would not 'recommend' using a fixed wheel with a freewheel at the front. I have had to cut several freinds' jeans apart as a result of them getting trapped in my freewheel. :$
However, it is easy to overcome this problem by... tucking your trousers into socks ( it isn't that 'goony'). I would rather look slightly wierd than have to cut a good pair of jeans.
Hope this helps,
Steve
it will do
-
Yes its so you can have the free wheel at the front but be careful they eat your jeans ha ha.
thnx i thought they when i was watchin some vids on u tube lol
Most of my mates ride 20 but i ride 26 i have never owned a 20 i started on a 26, i go on my mates 20s all the time and i would not say they are easier really
but i am 6ft 1 so i find a 26 just as easy have a go on a 20 and a 26 see what you fell more comfy on.
Also my pitbull is lighter than all my mates 20 even they say it.
do you know any one that has a trials bike, if you do ask them for ago.
good luck
dan
okey dokey theres just 2 people i know with trials bikes
-
If your that small get a mod (20") defiantly.
thnx i shall do that lol
is there fixed rear wheels on most of the bikes people use ?
-
The best way to learn is to hook up with your local group of riders and observe and learn , we're a very welcoming bunch . Vidoes can help to get an idea of the stances and body positioning needed for certain moves .
thnx for your help i dont know if there are any riders around my area that i have seen there is none
for your height get a 20". then try a 26" when you have progressed into trials. and then decide which you preferred then pick from there which way you want to go from there!
thnx 4 your help i shall try to find which is better
-
Hi, welcolm to the world of trials, Personanly i think 20" is easier to learn on because as they are smaller they are easier to monuevor during tricks.
thnx for your help i have not yet got a trials bike
