  1. that to me sounds like you threw the phone at the screen.

Imacs aren't espensive, repairing one is, as the majority of the parts are unique, your screen for example.

having had a few of these screens replaced for customers at my last job, who broke them, the trade price in the uk isnt anywhere near the £100 you say.

as for the "grow up" comment, it was meant as sarcastic rethoric, not to be taken seriously. i couldnt care less if you're rich or not, thats irrelevant.

your comments to myself and others, your sig for example, make your come across as a pretentious little boy. grow up, respect people when they give you advice and tell you things that may help. otherwise you'll never get out of NMC or just get kicked off.

http://www.justmac.co.uk/imac-g5-lcd--scre...ement-149-p.asp i dont know exactly if the lcd's are the same, but contacting them may get you the replacement you want. note the price £489.88 inc vat + shipping + fitting...... not exspensive at all.

    Oh wow! £80! hmmm....

    Cheaper than I thought.

I didnt ask how much it would cost. I asked where to get it from.

    you wasn't giving me adivce.

  2. im sorry, dont you understand humour. if your replacing the screen you'll need a lot of money as they are stupidly exspensive, hence "take out a new mortgage, you'll need it". or did you completely misconstrue what i said? or are you a just a bit dense? bit rich coming form the kid who had a hissy fit and then threw his phone at his computer...

if you're wanting a new screen any pc store, but i dont think the imacs came with vga ports, so you'll need a screen witha dvi connection.

i'd remove the vid from your sig too, its against the rules.

    It will cost about £100.

    Macs arent expensive!

How would you know if im rich or not?

I didnt throw the phone at the screen I respect my stuff. Especially apple stuff.

They're excellent quality products. I have a G3 running... Which is 9 years old.

Thanks for the link but. I ahve actually looked on there. They're American I need one based in the UK.

  3. Wow! There isn't an obvious solution to this one!

    1. Go round his house.

    2. Ask him politely for the bike back.

    3. If he says no beat the shit into him.

    4. If he then doesn't give you the bike get someone to sneak round the back of his house and steal it back.

Or just get evidence that it is yours. Then get evidence that he has stolen it.

  4. How did you do it?

Is it one of the Mac where the moniter is actually the whole computer or do you have a PC and a screen?

Maybe talk to Jon Mack he'll know something about it

A phone was thrown at it in frustration.

Yes, the iMac is the built in one. :P

I doubt Jon Mack would help.

  5. Oh god now I have to put up with you in college?

What is this world coming to?

Tom. We all know that I will have to put up with you going "Charlie. Please help me, Im a complete noob"

Plus... you knew I was doing media.

plus... I'm a apple geek. What else would you expect me to do?

  6. If it's online, unless you've got a HD monitor and they use some pretty amazing compression, you're not really getting a HD video though? That's largely the point I was trying to get across.

Yeah... I understand what your saying.. Although. They'res no point me getting another SD camera.

Plus... I do have a HD screen.

And HD looks better than SD on normal screens anyway

  7. FrancisJ didn't work out, eh?

What are you hoping to use the clips for? For the vast majority of people, HD isn't really needed, and it's just going to result in it taking longer to upload clips, taking up more space on your hard-drive, causing more hassle for virtually no benefit unless you watch the results on a HD-TV? If it's just for internet based stuff, you may as well go for something non-HD, simply 'cos you'll get more camera for your money?

    Leave Fran alone!!.

Why would i make a new account when I have this one?

    Anyway..

I am going to be using the clips for Trials and I am going to be using it for college (im studying media - Moving image) and I also will use it for fun. As a hobby.

I already have a SD DV camera and just want something newer.

Yes. I have HD Tv's and so do clients.

I just want a HD camera I love watching HD stuff. Especially Jonny Jones' videos.

  8. the new canon HG10 is pretty decent but is around the 550 mark - pretty stunning quality.

    orrrrrrr

you could get a panasonic sd9 and get a few 16gb memory cards for it ... (Its Flash based) It had pretty awesome reviews ... its around the 400 quid mark .... memory is pretty cheap.

to be honest im not a fan of hard drive based things - i think flash is the way foward.

Oh the canon hf100 or hf10 (flash and internal memory) are stunning too - 550 mark again for the cheaper one (but dropping in price sharply i think)

    Thanks for the adivce.

I dont know about flash memory.. Is it reliable? It seems a tad weird.

I think i'd prefer to have a DV HD camera. Do you have any of those to reccomend?

  9. If I were you, dont get a hard drive based camera. Generally the quality is below par to that of a MiniDV camera and you can't keep/store the footage as easily as u can with tapes - I mean you CAN, if you want to fill up hard drives - can get expensive! Im not generally a Canon fan, but ive been somewhat impressed with the Canon HV20. A good choice. Uses tapes. But if you really want a hard drive based, high-def camera, ive no idea. Hopefully ive helped a bit?

P.S. - Ive linked to Purely Gadgets. You may find cheaper prices on eBay.

Wow. Thanks for the reply Jonny. I understand the whole tape thing and i think the camera's are cheaper? What cameras do you tend to go for?

    Thanks again.

    Charlie
