  1. I really like the sound but struggling to hear any bass cutting through, I get the idea of what sort of sound but my studio monitors can be quite unforgiving with the bass side of things and that only gets better with experience and different monitoring systems.

As someone mentioned before the snares could maybe do with some processing to give them the same sort of electronic synthetic sound as the rest of the track.

Overall though some of the tracks are quite refreshing and different with some quite interesting soundscapes in there

im finding really hard to hear whats goin on on my speakers because there so crap, if i open out the cuttoff on the bass or turn up the level it just over rides everything else. but as soon as ive got some monitors il do some fresh mixes and upload them !

    Digging the mellow stuff alot.

Got any links to some naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasty dubstep?

havnt really been on those vibes recently, but soon !

  2. Just listened to Getting Onit and liked it. Drums could do with a little bit of tightening up, but not so much so that you lose the chilled feel.

I'm liking the clean, understated bass quite a lot.

I see you're in Glastonbury... Whereabouts do you ride?

what part of beat? the whole lot? or just those bongo's ? i havnt been riding for about a year and a half now, but probably going to buy a new one this summer. street where i live seems pretty good, seen another rider here aswell once !

  3. Gah, call me old fashioned but whats wrong with making music that you think feels and sounds good?

You released those tracks, you obviously think it sounds good so why bother trying to make it fit in with whatever genre seems to be the latest fad?

Music is for experimenting with...step away from the flock...

thats what im trying to do really, make my own genre in a way or atleast a sound that is unique to me! but in doing this i seamed to have lost sight of reason that i wanted to start producing for.

cheers dave! ive got more tunes of similar genre, i was wondering if i was worth making a 5 -6 track ep. and selling it on the cheep would be a good idea, and ive got some radio play lined up. But i dont know if

there are there enough people out there who like alternative genres and would come across my music and like it ?

  4. Your new song Fall In Tune is very flat, i would say it's ambient or background music if you like. But it was a good listen.

As i'm typing this, Staying High is playing. This doesn't feel Dubby much either and i'm half way in.

If all your tracks are like this and you want them to be like more mainstream stuff, you definitely need some deepy sounds. But if you wanted them to feel like mellow dub chill out songs then you're definitely on the right path.

after having a listen to fall in tune i completely agree, and what im trying to make is more dubstep inspired music and more underground sound rather than mainstream or shitty jump up with crap beats,

but i am going for a more mellow dub feel but not with all my tracks. and not all my music is like the tracks that are up on my soundcloud at the moment, i will upload more soon.

I don't like any of the drums, to be honest. Dubstep is all about heavy, punchy snares and pretty hard kicks - your stuff sounds like it would sound if it were played live on a real drum kit.

If that's the sort of sound you're going for, then you've pulled it off well. If not, look into some decent sample packs and start whacking plenty of different effects on the drums, or layering different drums. For example, in one of my drum and bass tracks I used a long snare, a clap and a punchy snare all at once to create a powerful sound. I used to just pick one snare I liked and it always sounded weak, you need to use more drums I reckon :D

after listening to several different tunes i beg to differ, 5 of them only had claps and most of them were sick tunes. most commercial dubstep is of that formular im sure ?

i do layer my snares and kicks aswell, all of the tracks on my soundcloud have atleast 2 layers of kicks and snares, i reckon i just need to have the release longer on the snares.

and by the way all my music is made on logic 5.5 with shitty hifi speakers!

  5. Hello, ive been making dubstep for about a year now and im getting to a place with it where im almost happy with what im making and sound im creating. But I would like to get some more feedback just so i know more of other peoples opinions. Here is the link to my soundcloud

i tried making some drum n bass, check the link, could do with some more good feedback!

    Lucid on soundcloud

    cheers!

  6. You youngsters are so lazy its about a 5 min ride along a flat track :S
