  1. But the point is vista should work the same, despite various hardware configurations... thats why they do beta testing. The fact that it isn't working properly on his computer suggests it is something wrong with his computer especially when other people are running it fine. Vista doesn't change the way it runs depending on what brand/type of hardware you have so it won't be a problem with vista itself. The biggest hint is that its telling him the display drivers are crashing, which means he needs to try new drivers or maybe even a new video card.

The drivers for 32bit vista are fine, and the ones for 64bit vista will be up to scratch pretty damn soon.

It should work the same as you said but its not always the case, and as for Beta testing it well known that a new version of windows gets released to public to really beta test it.

  2. How do you guys know its not a vista problem ?. Vista dont always work the same with different types of hardware configurations. Vista and vista hardware drivers are not quite there yet ( its still crap ). As said before try updating all hardware drivers.

  3. I have a skinny Samsung, which is still a bit too large for me to lug about, you can't just plug headphones in because you have to use an adaptor which normally adds almost a metre to cable length.

Phones also, as yet, do not have good sound quality / ease of use that MP3 Players have.

Capacity is an issue too, can't be bothered to buy a memory card either, would rather just buy a player for an extra fiver.

But dont most people carry there phones around anyway. As regaurds the head phones the solution is bluetooth headphones with a shuffle control on the tiny reciever £20'ish. I can only speak for the phones I have owned all have been able to create play lists and have been easy to use and have had good battery life, 1gb memory is very cheap £3-4. Sound quality is subjective with many different factors that can affect it , type of music with the codec used, headphones and so on. Get a good DAP app for the phone with a graphic equalizer this will sort out most players downfalls.

  4. Just a thought did you remove the reeds when you removed the head ? make sure they are seated correctly and like was said earlier piston, rings and compression. If these are 100% right and you are sure the carb setup is 100% correct then replace the plug if its still a no go the check the timming. Its all quite easy stuff to check and correct.

Gas Gas for the win best trials bike ever.

    Your having a laugh....

  5. I would prefer blu-ray to be the winner as it does hold more data and is more technologically advanced, however its just sooo expensive. £500 for a writer for the pc and the stand alone players (baring ps3) are also very expensive. However I have watched films on both Blu-ray and HD-DVD and I would say that HD-DVD is actually better quality as it does use a different codec, and the films actually come out at the same size eg 15gb, the extra space is used for extras which I personally do not have much use for so I do not see much benefit of Blu-ray over HD-DVD for films and media as such.

Its advantage is in the computing industry where its larger layer size allows more to be backed up to discs, however with the prices of flash memory falling I dont think it will be long before we see software distributed via flash drives or similar as it has a quicker read rate than an optical disc, also with the size of hard drives available and some big companies distributing via direct downloads you dont need to store so much on optical formats, so soon its advantage in the compuing industry will be worth nothing, in my opinion.

There are a lot of good points about both however I dont see why they cannot just agree, mainly because the two opposing teams want a monopoly so they get all the cash, however what harm has ever come from competition, games consoles for example, they only get better because of the competition, intel and amd also push each other to try and be the best. If these formats co-exist its just like choosing and intel based computer over an amd based computer or the xbox 360 over a ps3, everyone has their own reasons for it.

Im not too fussed which wins, so long as prices drop a bit and more films come out :P

Some very intresting points, I think along the same lines as you on this one.

  6. blu ray has a smaller aperture lens (light diffracts less)...meaning you can get focus it better and get more data on (Y)

thought that was the function of the blue laser in general much much better focus, BRay data is written in a spiral patteren and HDdvd is more of the existing method of writting data.

HDdvd and BRay in a internal drive cool dont spose its a HD writter as well is it?.

I dont give two flying monkey's to be honest.

I dont see a problem with normal DVD's and a decent TV. Unless you're a real anal guy who needs everything to look super duper smooth

''god damn there's one pixel that is two tones too light on my goddamn TV, it's ruined''

Im only intrested because we have a really good use for this video format. But if the dvd burners and media are cheap enough .... you can fit about 35+ full lengh dvd quality divx encoded films on one disk or 60+ on BRay now that would be cool.

  7. it seems to be better designed...and stores more per layer...

wikipedia tells me they've managed a 6 layer disc (200GB)....!

Hddvd and BRay use the same disks and laser, the difference is the way the data is written to the disk as far as I can make out.

  8. Im not thinking of getting a player but im in the market for a HD video cam for use at work and from what I have been reading about the cams within the price range im looking at they appear to be geared up mainly for the BRay format and use a Sony compression which not all video editors are compat with. I have only just started to look into this and to be honest have already got a headache, ok if you have hd cam can you throw some light on this or thinking about a hd cam for about 1k what would you go for. The cam will be used in a studio for making 30sec clips for the momment anyway, so editing isnt really a problem but we may want to expand on this and also may want to burn HDdisks a few months from now.

wow...that's a ballsy thing to do..

good luck to 'em though- blu ray is better!

    Why is BRay better ?

  9. Just wondering have anybody got any opinions ?.

Just as people are getting used to DVD's and the loads of different formats that these can comprise of they have gone and thrown 2 more formats in the mix. BRay higher capacity 50gb HDdvd 30gb incompatible with each other, BRay players average 100-150 more expensive. Xbox got HDdvd, PS3 BRay. Who do you think will come out on top, and why or do you even care. Sony computers are supporting BRay as they invented it Tosh are supporting HDdvd, I think its a really bad time for the consumer as regards HD dvd's.

Its a little more at stake with this than there ever was with the betamax vhs war sony lost that one.

  10. Great so £60 spent on extra 2gb of RAM, £70 on Operating System and the best thing about it is the font? You not thought about having XP and using the Vista Transformation pack so you can too have a pretty shiney OS?

Saved yourself about £100 and don't have to worry about Digital Rights Management or Driver issues. Has nobody noticed that you get faster and faster computers to be slowed down by overweight bulky operating systems, fair enough if the OS is actually alot better and beneficial but what's wrong with XP?

    Well said :shifty:

its taken a long time but XP works well now. In my experience MS OS's are always at its best when MS are saying they are working on a new OS. with the exception of ME this was released as a crap OS and was crap when it was replaced.

  11. Lol I love how you're over 40 and write 'too' as 'to'.

Then continue to rip Mac's however they don't have too many versions, and have hardly any problems, and you don't need a high-spec to run properly..

I have nothing against the MAC to be honest it just seems that way, I think I have a problem more with some MAC users attitudes ;)

  12. If the people that are using vista are happy with it and are not having any problems then good for you, I look after and maintain 300+ computers personally and about 2500+ as part of a team, PC's/MAC's with a range of OS installed So for the time being we will not be upgrading our windows pc's upto vista Due to the well documented information that me/team have access to, I/We cannot afford to spend loads of time trying to fix know/unkown incompatibility problems with vista. Its is a lot better than when it first was released but still not good enough for us to roll out vista to our users. I have 3 pc's running vista ( different specs ) that I test hardware\software combinations just for the record.

  13. released to soon, To many versions, To many problems, To many incompatabilitys, Very high overheads, need a really top end Hi-spec pc to run it sensibly .... its rubbish but do have some nice features. as with any new MS OS dont use it for as long as you can avoid it.

Oh yes almost all the same sort of stuff that MAC's suffer from but for only half the cost.

  14. Im not totally sure its still illegal to record from tv or radio as long as your not distributing the matrial i.e putting it up for someone else to download or make loads of copies and giving them away when you record from tv or radio then its for personal use only no matter what channel, 99.9% is gonna be copywrited. The same applies to scanning pictures out of books. Copywrite is a nightmare i sort of deal with it nearly every day in a very small way. Its like most of the homemade videos that are on youtube and simular sites are illegal because of the soundtrack that has been used .. But what a nightmare to police :P . But people do get done for it every once and a while.

Just a thought have you looked on the bbc web site it may well be there for you to watch.

  15. It dosnt have wifi do it ?, so you would have to have a bluetooth receiver for your pc then your sorted for file transfers and stuff, just like anyother phone. Not sure if you can connect to the internet through bluetooth connected to your pc. I havent come across a phone that can do this as yet, but there again I havent really been looking.

  16. is it cod4?. My mate just bought it and I know he had no end of trouble running it on vista he ended up putting xp on his pc and now he is one happy bunny. not sure of the exact problems he was having but may be worth having a look at some vista related forums.

  17. could just set up your pewt to record what you hear. or have you looked in the IE cache bet it would be in there if you have listened to the complete song.
