  1. I knew from this topic title it was going to be a pathetic one however I must interject;

Most notebook ram is 667Mhz. You can get 800Mhz i believe but its expensive, and this was the only option...

No. Most 'good' laptop ram is 1067 MHz DDR3 nowadays.

It's a shame it runs Windows though. If you installed OS X on to it and got rid of the whole external casing so it doesn't look tacky, bulky and generally gash, it'd be an ok computer I guess.

  2. expecta friendly letter from HMSCU within 28 days i believe?

if you haven't after that you're free and can't be prosectuted for the offence as it has become null due to delay

but unless you have points already i wouldn't really worry too much. unless you need a clean licence for work/applying for jobs.

You sure about the 28 day thing? I was under that impression too but wanted to check.

I went through a speed camera near Devils Bridge in North Yorkshire when I was following my mate. He went through at about 80 and I managed to brake down to about 60-65. He says it flashed him on his motorbike but I didn't see if it got me.

That was about 3 months ago now. We've both got small number plates on which could (I guess?) make a difference but maybe we were super lucky and it had no film in?

Good job if that's the case as I've already got 6 points and any more would KILL me! :(

  3. I currently work for Apple Retail as a Mac Genius. I got the job as career progression internally, moving from a Specialist job role.

I'm moving to M&S in a couple of months on their Graduate trainee management scheme, in a store near Leeds. That's for twelve months as my third year in University. The interview process for M&S was extremely hard, a full day's grilling with 5 different tasks, testing a range of your skills from analytical time report writing, to giving employee feedback and criticism.

I'm looking forward to learning a lot from a well respected high street retailer, who are well known for their excellent training programs.

    That's about it really :)

  4. Kinda depends on how much you want to spend.

Those Sennheiser ones are pretty good, not a bad price. I've got some V-Moda ones which are really amazing sound quality but poor build quality, i'm on my 5th or 6th pair unfortunately. However they did ship the last pair straight from America rather than me having to return them so I have one pair of working and one pair of broke.

I've also got some of the new Apple in-ear ones which sound alright but are a bit pricy for my liking. The remote is sweet but it's a shame the volume up and down isn't supported on the iPhone, only the Nano and something else.

Not much of a help but might be worth looking in to either of those. If you buy the V-Modas and return them closed box I'll send you my old headphones which you can return to the US for replacements. :P

  5. Don't know if I'm too late or not but they won't do anything.

It's not their place to even look at what the content is on the drive, they are just looking at the hardware for a warranty claim and replacement / repair.

    They won't say a thing, don't worry.

  6. As long as you're connected to the internet and you're copying from an official CD then it will (should) get all the details available and fill them out for you.

If it's a copied CD you might have problems, although as said before, you can try force it to get track names for a particular album but if when the CD has been burnt it's added an extra second or taken a second off the track lengths, it won't match up and thus won't return a match.

  7. Hey

I've been out of the trials scene for quite a few years now, but want to grab a bike to get to and from Uni and mates a little quicker.

I'm not gonna be riding any trials on it, more street riding so a single speed will be okay. I guess maybe a dirt bike could be a possibility but I'm thinking rigid all over, no front suspension.

Decent brakes aren't a must as I'll probably just get a rear Hope and maybe take the front one off. Looking to spend about 350/400 max. Could be new or second hand but second hand has gotta not be scratched up like a motherf..

Any help you could give would be wickid. I remember from a while back the Specialized P3 was a mean machine but not sure where they've all got to now. eBay finds none!

    Thanks again, Nick.

  8. I think nick carter on here is selling his checkout the mac problem thread.

Yeah if you're looking to buy one now I'd try get Nicks off him, it's a pretty good machine and he treats his stuff really well :)o

Cheers for the heads up and nice words :P

I actually sold my MacBook Pro a few weeks back to a dude over facebook for £800. I think it was a bit of a bargain for him and okay deal for me because it was just sat on my floor.

If you're using a MacBook for photography I think you'll be fine, especially with 4GB of ram. I've got the 2.4GHz unibody MacBook and it's fine with that kinda stuff. I've got it hooked up to a 24" Samsung external monitor too.

Differences aren't that big between the MacBook and MacBook Pro mainly screen size, graphics cards and processor clock speed.

  9. Do you not think that it's just so much effrot texting girlfriends though.

I mean, I'm single and go to Uni in Sheffield but have been seeing a girl back home quite a bit. I just lose effort sometimes though. I mean when I'm with her it's all good, I really like her, but it's so much effort having to like check she's okay every f**king day. urgh!

I've just got better things to do and more important things to concentrate on it seems.

    Maybe it's just me..

Although I'm home for tonight and she's coming to pick me up in 20 mins haha..

  11. Find a university student to get you 14% off and super cheap AppleCare if you buy it in store, or free Applecare except the phone support if you order through the telephone education store.

I would be tempted not to get the plastic one because although they've just been updated recently, the plastic external casing discolors, and cracks super easy. I'd try get a student to get the discount and then you can look at the Aluminum one which is £949 (less 14%) makes it 816.14. Although those prices are with old VAT not new one.

    That's my opinion.

  12. Ok, for late christmas present my Dad got me a £50 itunes credit gift certificate thingy, well he sent the code in the email and with instructions.

So I got onto my Itunes, entered the code under the redeem section and I got this message: "This certificate must be enabled by the Itunes store customer service." So i got onto the phone to Itunes and they gave me all these instructions but it didnt work. So what can I do? I know the code isnt invalid, its just it needs someone to enable it.

So what should I do, i was thinking of going to the Apple shop in Southampton but I dont know if they can do it or not, has anyone else had this problem?

Firstly, is it an Apple Retail Store gift card (silver and can only be spent in a retail store or online I think) or an iTunes Music Store Card, which often have dancing people or a Christmas style on the front of them.

You need to ensure that you have scratched the bit off to use that as code on the back of the card rather than the long bar-code that comes on the back of them. That's usually where people go wrong. Once someone purchases either type of card it is active straight away, so you shouldn't be encountering any issues with it being 'enabled'.

Make sure you have read http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/giftcard/ and contact them if you need to. It might be that you're reading the code off wrong as a zero that appears to be an O.

    Hope I helped.

  13. Theres 38 of us going away on januray 17th to Mayrhofen in Austria. £495 for EVERYTHING half board aswell. Its got one of the steepest blackruns in europe (78% gradiant) if you dont know how steep that is, il post a vid in a couple of minutes for you...

Been there before a few years ago, the snow was brilliant, and supposidly like that every year...

Last year went to Alp d'huez, and that was fricken awesome to say the least. The snow was amazing, and the nightlife was pretty cool (strip club :P ) its also got a 16km black run, which was harsh on the legs (snowboarder) but was cool to fill the whole morning up to 2pm lol. Its also just a hours bus journey from Les duex alp, which was cool aswell, some awesome tree runs ect.

I'm going to Mayrhofen on Friday woo hooooo!

There's 135 of us going from my University - 2 double decker coaches there and flights back - can't wait.

  14. Once the Install Disk is up and running it'll eventually ask you whether you wish to do a standard Install or Archive & Install, if you want everything wiped go with a regular, if you want all your stuff go Archive and sort it yourself once you're logged in.

Yeah just hit 'Customize' on the bottom left hand side of the screen when it show it to choose Archive or Erase and install rather than update which f**ks your system :)

  15. They're not doing it in the UK unfortunately, but what they are doing is this;

They weren't at the time but are now..

Don't they usually to the free nano, or price of a nano of anything else?

Back to school deal or some such nonsense.

Yeah - back to school promo. It's running until 31st October. You get £95 rebate against an iPod Nano or iPod Touch when you buy any mac with higher education discount (excluding Mac Mini).

Not too bad, means you only need to put a little bit towards a new 8GB iPod Nano. I wonder if they're just getting rid of old MacBook stocks..

  16. How gutted must you be when you go home.

Go home as in back from Uni? I rarely go home and my house at home is fine lol. I like seeing the parents once in a while. I've been here over summer working anyway so.. its all good.

'kin hell. How many mates are you sharing with? Looks awesome there.

Sharing with 7 of us. Double beds, skyline ish view, £80 each for a 37" plasma TV is sweeeet! :)
