  1. Hi guys! Hey Janine is off the world champs in Andorra and any help she can get makes it all happen. She has entered her latest video, 'Trial and Error', in a competition and if she receives the most votes she can win some much needed money that goes straight to her trip fund. So if you feel inclined to help her out could you please give her a "thumbs up" (icon next to the vid).

    Thanks in advance,

    Cam

  2. There has been a noticable rise in the standard of riding in the feminine class over the last few years, and there are some exciting young women athletes competing internationally. Many we don't really know a lot about as there is very little media from them, or they have such a hectic competition and training/work/study schedule that they kind of fly under the radar.

I recently spent some time with Gemma Abant when she came to Australia for a holiday. As a follower of the sport and part time bike trial coach, it was a fantastic opportunity to spend time with an athlete that has put in years of dedication to the sport they love. Gemma has reaped the rewards of those efforts and remained humble and approachable. I had the privilege of riding with her and getting to know the person as she shared some of her riding history with me. I also watched her training, and could see the pleasure she got from doing what she loves the most.... riding trials.

I was in Saalfelden (Austria 2012) to see her clinch her tenth world title under quite trying circumstance. I watched her closely during the competition and it is impossible to have anything but respect for the concentration, strength of character and sheer determination it took for her to win that world championship, I can't imagine what it's taken to win ten! This shy, diminuative young woman has an inner strength that stunned me, and like so many of the great competitors in sport, she is never truely satisfied with her achievements. Morg and I grabbed a camera and took some random footage of Gem when she was training on our back yard junk pile. It is quite different to the obstacles she normally rides and in the beginning a few moves gave her some trouble, but the professional rider came out straight away and the change in her was obvious. The concentration was turned up a to 10 and her determination to 11!

I learned over a few weeks that it didn't matter what she applied herself to, Gemma immersed herself into it 100% - work, riding.... even dinner! We gave the footage to Gemma and she put together a video to remember her time here in Brisbane. I hope you enjoy watching her play.

  3. I made a couple of A frames a while ago for Morg and J9 to train on. They adjust so that you can make them more/less vertical. With a small tweak I managed to join the two frames to make a wall for practicing hooks. They assemble in under 3 mins and separate easily to pack up flat .. excellent for storage.

    J9 playing on them

  4. Nate flew up from Melbourne to train for 4 weeks in Bris with Morg. The first vid is Morg and Nate training (hungover) after Morg's 21st.

The second vid is Morg and J9 training at Karawatha forest on the south side of Brisbane. Sandy soil with large granite bolders. Pretty cool for trying bigger moves. Morg has only just started riding 26 as he built the Meta up for Christmas, b ut he's starting to get used to it.

  5. On the weekend we had our National Championships in Australia with Joe Brewer and Andrew Dickey being forced into a ride off after both finished on 3 dabs. I have put together the footage I got of their ride off in a little youtube video:

Would have been nice to capture some of their riding on the other sections and unfortunately the quality of filming isn't the best but I thought some you might be interested, especially as a lot of people are getting into Andy's recent riding vid.

Fast work Tim! It was a fantastic finish to an excellent event, big ups to Stu for setting great sections (Y) . Ride offs always have a little tension for rider and audience, and this one didn't let us down. Nice to see someone captured it.

  6. Andy and Joe just had the closest finish I've seen in the Australian titles this weekend. Andy narrowly missed out on the title after finishing equal with Joe on 3 dabs. They then had a ride off for first place which Joe managed to win. Both are awesome riders and ride together a lot.

    This is a great video.

Yeah the video is fantastic, but to see him ride on the weekend was awesome. Great guy and a brilliant rider/competitor. (Y)
