It just so happens I picked him up a 4 month old great condition 2008 Kona Stuff via ebay for £400 He's over the moon with it, and I must admit I'm a tad jealous too :$ About time I saved some of my own pennies for a Scott YZ0 or Cannondale Chase Thanks

Update Evans have just knocked £50 off Scott YZ15, from £449 to £399. So I've booked in a test ride this weekend. Thanks again for all your input

Thanks for your help guys We've come to an agreement on 2 bikes. It's either going to be the Kona Shred 08 (white with graphics) or the Scott YZ0 (white with graphics) I suppose their neither here or there in terms of a dedicated trails/dirt bike but I figure he can have a tastes of both and still be an easy ride to school. Both bikes come in around the £600 mark, is it worth waiting for the summer sales? Thanks Z edited to add, any idea which size frame would be suitable for your average 12 year old?

Hi people I need your expert advice. I'm looking for a new bike for my 12 y/o son. He's currently riding a BMX but previously had a GT Chucker that was stolen. He seems to like the idea of a trials/jump bike but I'm thinking something with gears, perhaps a Scott YZ model or Kona Stuff. I don't know what the single gear on a trails bike is like but he'll be using it to ride to and from School ( 3 miles round trip) The bikes he's looking at are Twenty47 SS, Drone? or identity 666s. My Budget is circa £400 new/nearly new. Apologies if this is in the wrong section Thanks Z
