  1. I came off Facebook almost two years ago now due to the same reason as you. I never really used it anyway, other than to post exploring pictures up. I don’t miss it at all, after about a month of not using it I went back and changed from a deactivated account to a permanently deleted account. Some of my friends were a bit shocked when they asked why they couldn’t find me on Facebook, but I don’t regret it at all.

Poifick. Date remains, location remains. So what I propose is we set the time to meet at 11.30 so nobody's rushing round super early to get there.

Probably eaten and stuff by 1.30/2 then that leaves loads of time to get off karting etc for those that do.

Anybody got any suggestions where to eat? I'll have a Google tonight and come up with a few suggestions.

There are a few good pubs around the outskirts. Jacobs’s Inn, The White Hart at Wytham, The Boot, just to name a few.

It all depends on how many are coming as parking could be an issue for most of the decent pubs.

  3. 1. Tom Booth- '64 Fairlane

    2. Rainbird - LCR of some sort

    3. Daniel cox - turbo clio or none turbo clio

    4. Robin - Probably the slowest e36. Maybe... but almost certainly not a 924.

    5. Mike - Eunos Roadster (If it survives Bedford Autodrome, trip to Bruges and Rockingham weekender)

    6. Pete - Crusty but freshly turbo'd Volvo, I hope.

    7. Stuart - Audi A6

I’m local to Oxford so when there’s a rough idea of numbers I’ll put forward suggestions for places to meet.

Cheers Stu, that looks great anyway! I should have made it clear I'll only be shooting video as well – not sure what settings it'll give me access to as it's not with me at the moment but I'll try to work that out before we go.

Main thing I'm going to be trying to get the hang of, I think, is decent 'fly-by' shots that focus on the subject – trying to continue travelling in the same direction while turning the drone to stay focussed on something you're flying past was difficult in my little play session yesterday afternoon. Only an hour of flight time done though, so hopefully that'll get better by doing a couple of flights a night.

Have a look at the Vertical Studio app, it allows you to track objects so that you can focus on flying ant it will keep the camera pointing at an object of your choice.

  5. Some recent shots from me.

Not quite photography, but I'm sure you guys know a lot more than me... I just took delivery of a DJI Phantom 3 Standard for some swanky shots in the mountains next month. Anyone done any drone work that can offer some "I wish I'd known x" style advice about getting a shot right? I'm an enthusiastic amateur at best, so any pro-tips will be welcome!

Always shoot manual, the auto settings on the drone cameras are rubbish. Cycle your batteries properly for them too, there's lots of tips to read up online for that, I can't remember it all off the top of my head. Feel free to PM me if you ever need any help with anything!

I usually shoot video with my drone, but I have taken a few photos and this is my favourite so far, even if it is a little over exposed!

Nice, I like the sunlight beams. If that's the container I think it is then I've wanted to go there for a while but never been. I was once specifically warned by the cops to avoid it, but that's before it was shutdown.

Thanks! Its the one in Southall, demolition is very soon!

Yeah they're nice man, super sharp!

What camera / lens were you using?

Canon 5D MKII and a Canon 17-40mm L lens. Need to get myself a zoom lens for next time and get some different angles!

  8. Travelled down to Worthersee for 10 days. My friends S14a's driveshaft broke on the way down and is currently stuck in France. Talked to a few people and found someone 40 minutes from where the car is stored with the parts to fix it, what are the chances?! A few of our group are going back to get it down here tomorrow. Will post more photos if people want to see it, the cars out here are probably not to anyones taste on here though, all low on air-ride.

As a rough guide, the Porsche photos were shot at f2.8, shutter speed fairly fast (Can't remember exactly, but 1/500 or something).

I used a flash to fill, but not very bright so there's no reflection.

Edited in Lightroom using a preset called "Subtle HDR", with a bit of my own tweaking to make it less HDR. I don't really like HDR as it's a bit too much usually, but that subtle preset is nice if you play with it a bit.

If any Lightroom users want that preset, give me a shout and I'll send it over. It's good for cars and landscapes, but it's a bit harsh on people.

If you don't mind could you send the preset over to me? Email: stuarthomas [at] hotmail.co.uk thanks!

  10. Got a drone on Friday and took it out Saturday to practise flying and got a bit of footage of my friend in his s14a. Video is in HD on the vimeo website.

Liam's car is an absolute weapon, although probably not to anyone's taste on here.
