  1. Just a quick edit i did earlier and wanted to post it on here to see what you'll think, im not very good at editing so thats one minor :(

    heres the video...enjoy :D

    thanks

    Ali

    Hey buddy, Found it (Y)

Video was good but really doesn't do you justice should have got some more clips today you were doing far more impressive stuff!!! Also its really slippy on that concrete in the wet dont really like that spot at all

Thanks for the help/advise as well mate i have improved loads since finding someone else who actually knows what hes doing ( or suppose to be doing)

  2. Shimano hubs were never built with hard abuse in mind well except the saint group set. As for new hubs, it depends on if ur going single speed or if u want gears and also budget. Im personally runnin a halo spin doctor on my bike and it hasnt skipped once! They are around 40-50 quid. Or go with a fixed hub and freewheel like the echo which is about 60 quid but if u can stretch to it the hope pro 2 trials seems to be the weapon of choice for majority of riders here.

Went with the Spin Doctor seems to have good reviews too will see how it pans out :-) Cheers bud

  3. Has been starting to play up and now i seem to have lost ratchet points and the free wheeling is intermittent :( part is Shimano m525 ( guess the original Monty one was replaced at some point or broke). Have taken to local bike shop and they suggested getting the parts in to fix it cost estimated at £15 and £10 ish to fit. I have search on here but haven’t found many threads relating to it so a few little questions about what do i do from here?

Could get the new part and they fix it ( assuming its not the body?) i have no idea how they work. Would it just brake again never really been overly convinced of its ratchet.

Could try and find a replacement hub? All the trails sites list £120 + hubs and that a little out of my price range are there any cheaper free 9sp hubs that would last?

Would it be worth swapping to a fixed hub seems allot cheaper however i do use this bike to cycle to places and love the 6-7 usable gears that i had

Any advice would be great, pants not being able to ride my bike atm .

    (Monty 26" 36 hole 135mm 9sp)

    Cheers

  4. Cool, I'll keep an eye out on the 'Rides/Locations' section.

Always meant to post up and see if anyone else is around here.

I was in st albans but have moved to Rickmansworth (behind Watford) would be up for a little ridey haven’t really found anywhere decent to ride with obstacles that are small enough for my weak trails skills :$

  5. nice, (Y)

like all the people in the background stopping and watching quite funny and quite impressed that dude passed you the bike hahahaha!!

  6. There is an old thread that i read http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....showtopic=16144 but apparently its dated

"First question for you all is in relation to brands and the like.

Basically I'm wondering what brands are to look out for... "Top of the range" "Common" You may say. This is relation to all trials gear:

    -Frames,

    -Rims,

-Handle bars... You name it! "

I would suggest perhaps a different stages in trials parts list as well. I bent my rear wheel with in about a week and when I visited the local bike hut they suggest I get a new rear worth £160  if I was doing really impressive stuff that would be fine but it was not really needed and way above what I would utilise.

    So Perhaps

Beginner Stuff, or cheaper stuff and then decent parts and costs. Also what’s important? Ie Spending more on brakes or getting a better engineered frame as personally I have no idea.

  7. How does it ride?

If that was my bike... I'd get some longer bars. :)

    Guessing that was at me?

Unfortunately I haven’t been on many trials bike so can’t really compare. Very flick able quite a short frame and I have very short legs (apparently). Quite impressive with the V brakes considering the cost, only completely floored when they get wet. Not convinced on the geometry :-

  8. My first trials ish bike 26" stock barracuda only upgrades so far are DMR grips, Dmr DV rear wheel. Have also got quite a few brake parts but haven’t quite managed to make anything work well or consistently so back to V-brakes atm. (ps the front forks are fake suspension actually hollow fixed forks)

Sorry not quite as impressive as the rest :$
