Yes, it's definitely 83mm, I was as surprised as you when I fitted my regular sized bottom bracket to find the axle was too short! I've got loads of bottom brackets and cranks lying around for a regular bottom bracket, or a square taper 83mm bottom bracket, but can't find one anywhere. Plus the cranks are dual ring, which I don't really want. Bah! I was hoping 83mm was a more usual size on trials bikes and someone could point me to a trials orientated bike shop?

I've just picked up a MongooseTransfer trials frame very cheap, have been building it up for a few days, but have run into a problem; it has an 83mm bottom bracket shell! I can't find many bottom bracket/crank combinations that'll fit, and none that I can afford. I'm hoping its a trials thing and you'll be able to point me in the direction of what I'm after? I'm not after anything special, just a single ring set of cranks, bash guard I'm not bothered about, and a bottom bracket that'll fit the frame. Anyoen got any good answers? Cheers.
