  1. I've had a bit of lower back pain which I've just put down to riding with this new geo (back nowhere near vertical). If it's a pain at a specific point, you should see someone about it. If it's just a general pain after a couple of hours riding, then it's probably just muscle ache.

  2. It's really stupid to hack a site like this, but if someone who thinks that "U have To Strong it" is a real sentence can hack it, the security must have been pretty weak. Nobody who knew what they were doing would bother with a site like that, there's probably some program that auto-hacks their particular forum software version.

  3. Great, thanks for the replies. I was looking at something like that, but the word ISIS was putting me off.

I have the correct extractor tool, but standing on the end of the spanner doesn't seem to be doing it so far. I'll have to borrow a bigger spanner.

    Cheers!

  4. Hi

Stupid question, I need to order a BBTool, but have no idea what sort to get. The BB is 68 mm according to Onza (it's a zoot) Here's a 'probably not that helpful' picture:

I'm pretty sure there's 20 teeth. Also can anyone tell what kind of crank fitting that is? I think it's square taper but I haven't been able to get the crank off to prove it. I think the axle is too narrow for ISIS but I've never seen this 'octalink'. The cranks are middleburn.

What's the harm in sending this part to Matt to analyse properly if there is no chance of a warranty replacement anyway? Whether the spacer was there or not, the failure could still be down to a manufacturing fault, which coincidentally happened to line up with some other features of the assembly.

A lecturer at uni had a car part fail which the manufacturer told him was not covered under warranty because it was caused by bad driving style. He took some images using an SEM which clearly showed a casting defect resulting in a weak point in the part, sent them to the manufacturer, and they paid for the replacement :D

  6. Listening to people with views like yourself just make me want to chain smoke, to the extent that as I'm typing this now I'm sat in my back garden with a smoke saying a big "f**k you" to anybody who tells me it's stupid.

I didn't say smoking is stupid. I'm not sure what views it is make you want to chain smoke, but they certainly aren't 'views like mine', because you don't seem to have understood my one simple point.

  7. Honestly, what the f**k...

I will do say and profess what, who and where I like.

You clearly didn't read what I said, because for starters I have no interest in giving up smoking because I don't need to. I smoke as and when I want, I don't get the urge to smoke but sometimes I do. I can go months without having a cigarette then smoke a pack down the pub no problems.

And of cause smoking can be portrayed in a positive light, is there wasn't any plus sides to smoking then why would 13 Million people in the UK do it ?

I didn't tell you you could not state your view, I said doing so was irresponsible. I didn't make any comment regarding your particular smoking situation, which frankly has no relevance whatsoever. I didn't say smoking couldn't be held in a positive light, I said it was irresponsible to do so.

I think it's clear who hasn't read whose post.

  8. I'm talking about this year! Onza stock the correct (Ronnie) rim, but that is 36H so no good for me. 32H plus not wanting a drilled rim left me with only 2 or 3 choices, I had already spent more than I really wanted to on the bike, so I got a 'FireEye' rim which was pretty cheap. Working well so far, but I'm only a beginner really.

  9. nice! this is soundin more tempting to do now, what are good 24" rims? they dont sell the ones with holes in do they?

If you're using a rear maggie, make sure the rim you get is wide enough for this to actually work in your frame. I needed 35mm+ which ruled out a lot of rims. Another solution is offset mounts, but this is a more expensive solution that just finding a wider rim.

You might be able to find a drilled 24" DX32, someone posted a link a while ago, search should bring it up.

  10. I can do what I want, and I should be able to do it without getting insults from the likes of you. If I want to smoke I will do, it doesn't hurt you and hell you wouldn't even have known if it wasn't for people on here saying "Yup, I smoke." so get a grip yourself and grow up.

If you think smoking doesn't hurt anyone else, it's you who needs to grow up. It's an attitude and comments like yours that would convince more people to start smoking. Even if you yourself have no interest in giving up smoking, portrying it in any kind of positive light is just plain irresponsible, especially on a forum where lots of people are at an age where they might consider starting.

  11. I redid one of my 4bolt mounts using a £15 kit off ebay. Drill not included of course, but you're also meant to use cutting fluid which wasn't included either. It did come with about 20 inserts though. One tip if you do it yourself: don't try and be clever and put two inserts in... it doesn't work, at least it didn't for me.

  12. The wiki is good for bleeding, but are there any tips for setting up/aligning the calipers using 4 bolt mounts? I always find this a real pain in the ass, and almost impossible to get the pad alignment perfect.

  13. 2. Will adapting from one to another (and vice versa) be difficult?

    3. will 24 feel small and cramp up?

    2. Of course there is a difference, but it's the same basics. I think you could do most of the same things, just not the same height/distance.

    3. I'm 6'2 and don't feel cramped at all on 24" with medium length stem. I have hit my knees on the stem a couple of times though.

It can be more difficult to find good/wide rims that are cheap though. That's probably the only issue I've had going to 24".

  14. Hmm, it rained for 10-15 minutes, then it was drizzling. It was wet enough for me to expect the brakes to not work anyway. I was just practicing pedal hops on/off things, nothing that big but plenty of 'stopping' involved. Although the brakes stopped squeeking, I quickly realised I didn't need to worry about the brakes, but about standing water.

  15. my snowies on smooth were great last time I used them in the wet.

Is ant there any that work well on a smooth rim in wet?

    :)

The problem is, almost everyone has a grind in the first place. So when you ask for anything about smooth, you won't hear much apart from 'just get a grind'. Not saying a grind isn't worth it, I just can't be arsed since I have a 'good enough' set up without.

  16. The only thing is, if he's not replying to emails about purchases is he going to reply to emails about refunds?

I would give him a chance, he seems like a nice guy to me. It's easy to get used to fast delivery from most companies, but heatsink is just one guy with a day job, so he can probably only post things on a Saturday.
