  1. I'm only down the road in Street. I ride pretty much wherever and I'm always keen for trying new spots. I usually get out once or twice a week after work in mid-Somerset and then my weekends are usually spent in Bristol but quite often we'll all get together if something's pre-arranged.

I'll PM you my number, give me a shout if you fancy a bash round somewhere.

    Greg.

  2. Always take care of your posture, but the main thing for me (I'm getting a bit old now) is to warm up. Do some stretching and start off gently and keep having a stretch every now and then. Get your muscles moving before you bang out those explosive moves and you'll be able to ride as much as you like.

  3. Ive got snail cams in my frame, with a pro 2.

Like it. Neat bodge ;) But something that doesn't mean your frame spacing is forced apart would be great. Essentially, being able to use off-the-shelf parts is the point. (Y) Not everyone will be willing, or able, to faff about getting their bike working. I love a bit of bodging, but let's face it, most people just want to ride their bike rather than feck about with it.

Hope cams would be rather yummy too :D

You don't have to run snail cams on the inside you know. Just swap the bolts around and shove them on the outside. Also if you have to you can drill them out.

Not on mine with its bloody fiddly drop-outs :D

  4. What would also be nice touch with the Pro2t, would be the option to use the hub with or without snail cams. I.e. removeable spacers which would make the hub compatible with more frame/chain tensioning combinations.

I currently run a Pro2t in a frame designed to use snails. I've got it sorted with some chain tugs, but it's not pretty. I'd give my right nut to be able to use snails with my Pro2.

  5. Can you absolutely everything I need other than the frame please.

    1 bike. Minus frame.

Seriously though, it's your bike and your budget. Have a good look through Tarty, they will have everything you need (they even do kits I think). It's the only way you'll learn, being told what to get isn't necessarily condusive to a good build. If you make some effort to narrow your spec down then people will be more inclined to advise you I would have thought.

  6. Right I'm thinking along the lines of: Echo Lever Blade, Echo Brake Booster in andonized green to improve braking and looking nice and also V!Z rim tape in green to go with the booster and lever and then some Wellgo Shin Dig pedals in a silvery/whiteish colour to match the frame. Which will be around 80 pound

And as for the chainstay protector I will be getting the Onza Blade of Tartybikes so I will just use the free one from them and the Onza Citrus Pads so my back brake will be pretty sweet (with the upgraded lever, pads and booster). And as for the handlebars I'm not to fussed about them.

And by the way I don't care about you spending my money for me you probably know better than me!

Thanks loads for the advice Polyrhythm

    Liam =D

Those sound like sensible upgrades mate. I'm sure you'll get on well with them. (Y)

  7. I'm just going to spend ages on tarty =D

Good plan. Perhaps if you went for handlebars, pedals and a chainstay protector or something, that would would keep the cost down but still give a balanced look.

Anyway, I'll stop spending your money for you now mate. You're lucky to be getting a decent bike, never mind colouring it in with posh bits ;)

  8. I like the sound of red and also green, what about fluro green because that really would be contrast.

Haha, I like the sound of proper lairy colours. Also think about what parts you're going to get though. Say if you got fluoro green rims then found out all the other bits you want are only available in a normal anodised green, it might look a bit mis-matched. Maybe that's a bit fussy, but if you're going to the expense of colour scheming, you might as well research the hell out of it and get it looking perfect.

You could blow hundreds on this easily :D

  9. Ok so ditch the gold... Its cheap and nasty looking.

So run a red and white colour scheme?

    Thanks Liam =D

Red and white would look great. Red anodised parts can look a bit inconsistent though. Sometimes they turn out a bit pinky, but if you're happy with that then no worries, it'll still look smart.

Blue or green would also be good. What I'm trying to get at I suppose, is contrast.

You're right when you say that you should get the bike first and see what you think. Be patient before lashing your money on loads of bits ;)

  10. Do you think this would nice?

Please comment on anything negative about it and positive as i intend to do this for christmas

    Thanks

    Liam =D

If you're suggesting seasonal decoration then yes. Work a few bits of red in there and jingle all the way.

However for a permanent investment, nothing says 'Cheap Elizabeth Duke Baubles' like gold. Just my opinion. :D

More constructively (and again, just opinion); I'd pick a more bold colour on a white bike (2009 model presumably?). Then if you can, go for the same manufacturer for your coloured trinkets. That way the colour should be a better match.

  11. Tis bloody lovely mate, deosnt ride too badly either, you seemed to becoming a bit of a monster on it! Defo Plymouth this weekend, ride, drinks, ride drinks etc will be good

I'm loving it, it's sooo nice to ride.

I might be able to make plymouth on Saturday but I'm not sure yet so I'll have to let you know.
