    Good News.

    After a few hours in the park, the bike has been promoted from my shed, where my unwanted and broken bikes tend to see out their days, to my office, where they distract me from my work at regular intervals. It's in from the cold in more ways than one.

    Thanks all, I'm really getting used to it and enjoying being on it. As some of you said, ten minutes with an allen key has been time well spent.

    Youll love it eventually, even the angle of the bars, height of the brake levers and what grips your using can make a hell of a difference!

    It my seem a daft question to you but have you always loved it, or did it take some getting used to? See where I am going?

    Descriptive, nice.

    What is it you don't like about it? Whilst they're not for everyone, I'd put money on the setup being the main root of your issues

    Good point. I really dont feel like fetching it out again to identify the issues I have with it. I'm very fed up. Think I'll go for a run and cheer my self up again. Perhaps then I might be in a better frame of mind to start looking at the positives.

    Nice one! I hope the place you're talking about is Tarty ;)

    I really can't recommend the guys there enough - absolutely brilliant.

    Keep your eyes peeled on the second hand side of things too, dude! And good luck with it all, even if you do make a trip or three to a&e!

    WOW, these Inspired Fourplay's are hard to come by. October's end before they arrive at Tarty. British Racing Green sounds a close second to a white with brown a very clear last choice. I wouldn't buy a second hand MTB without knowing where it's been and a trials is no different. Thinking of combining a fishing trip to France and come home with a frame for £300.

    Nah it's fine, only problem you'll run into is if you want a front rim brake, 'cos no-one makes trials forks with 24" rim brake mounts. (unless you look second hand, or get some Pashleys with lowered mounts)

    Re; the seatpost, yes you can! Even with my pivotal setup i can get it high enough to ride it comfotably from place to place if i can really be bothered (and that seat post's very very short) Obviously you could put a seat post as long as your seat tube in if you were running a normal saddle, so it's definitely do-able (Y)

    Thank you all. I have a much better idea of what I want and after a fair bit of research, I now know where to get it, or at least who to talk to. Casualty here we come... :S

    Hey dude, welcome to the forum (Y)

    There's definitely a bike to fit your criteria if it's just getting to and from the spots your worried about (i.e. not using it as a mtb as well as a trials bike!) You could get something like an Inspired and whack some gears on, get the smallest cog possible on the cassette and Robert's your father's brother. Admittedly it won't be the fastest way of getting about but it's definitely far easier than those of us (me included) who ride a mile or two to spots with single speeds (i'm currently running 22:17, pretty tempted by gears though...)

    And it'll open up loads of options to you, being able to change to lower gears for the static stuff and go fas when you want to, unlike having to find a good compromise between the two.

    Arrhhh! I’m cringing and my toes are curling at the naivety of this post. :$ I’m an ‘old skool’ BMX’er who loved being out and all day, just trying stuff on my bike (PK Ripper). I’ve been into mountain biking for ages but am getting bored of flying around the countryside with my mates and fancy having a fresh go at trials and stuff. Thing is, most of my riding will be over three miles away and I can’t see me honking (can you say that?) all that way. Is there a 24 incher that meets MTB and Trails, half way? I know it’s a compromise but I’m 40 and don’t expect to drop off from roofs - just 360’s and ground stuff etc. Thanks, :)
