DONT USE ANTIFREEZE!! my mate done it yesterday and had so much air in his system when he pulled the brake the pads were on the rim but the lever came back to the bar, but my mate andy b bled his brakes with wd40 and it feels like an oil bleed but it doesnt freeze and gives off a lush bite
Well that has nothing to do with the anti-freeze. You can get a fluid bleed with loads of air if it isn't a good one.
Anti-freeze is fine if it is bled well.
-
why just not use oil while its cold rather than making up a potion that may freeze.
+1
I don't see why people go to all that bother mixing loads of different thing and stuff like that.
Just use water and anti-freeze or brake fluid.
Or if your cool... Get some vee-brakes

My Echo Pure was about 12.3kg but since then I have got a lot of new parts.
I haven't had a chance to build it yet but my new back wheel with the tyre and tube is about 3.5kg
-
A booster might help. If you don't already have one..
-
You've obviously never used Deore arms.
I have Deore arms and I like them

What mod is it?
This is the cheapest, good quality headset you can get in red: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...;category_id=19
But it might not fit depending what frame you have.
-
Rock Blues are amazing on grinds!!
They might not solve the grinds wearing quickly, but they are insane!

Keep an eye out for a new rockman frame, 26inch and similar geo to the old echo pure (1060, +10, 72deg, 385mm) it may also be available with Vee mounts!!
Adam
I have an 06 Echo Pure, Its really nice for all that streety kind of stuff. Mine is 1070 though not 1060 (and it has vee mounts )
-
I have the 06 which is actually a different geo (1070, +10bb) but I love it
They are quite strong and the price is really good. Some people might say it is heavy but its not too bad.
-
I much prefer syringe bleeds because you can just leave the brake on the bike so there is no need to set the brake up again after.
And if you are careful you can get it pretty much airless too.
-
I don't really see how that's possible. Granted, it's been a very long time since I've had a square taper crank/bb. But isn't the whole point of the isis system a greater surace area in contact between the crank and the bb? If I'm not mistaken, the isis bb spindles are larger in diameter than their square taper equivalents too. So, larger diameter + multiple splines (instead of 4 flat sides) = less likely to strip or round. No?
Yes isis bb spindles have a much bigger diameter. And they are less likely to round too.
I would choose isis every time.. If I had the money

Lol well 1its not sticky, i only put a lil bit on and i let it dry before riding, also you can just wash it off your finger when your done
Ok
Just seems like a bit of a hassle to me.
-
I sanded down one lever and it took me forever. I used a sander from most of it but there was lots of parts I couldn't get to with it so I had to just use sand paper.
If works fine just takes like a year.

^The geo etc is all there.
375mm chain stays, 25mm bb rise, 1070mm wheelbase (depending on fork) and its 2.2kg

Lol well, i used like new tar that hadnt set yet, soo i didnt rreally met it on and it worked really well, so.. yeah hha
Well I'm not going to complain. It's you who's brake is going to stick just before a drop or gap and make you land on your face.
Seriously what JT said is the best way to do it. Also, does it not make a bit of a mess melting it and putting it on your finger and that?
-
Lol yah i put tar on today!! therre wss some building work at school on the road( replacing a cable) and i stole some tar that was on this pipe and put it on my irms, works really good!!
btw for people who are like clueless hoew to get it or put it on just like scoop it up with like a penny or something( or if its hard melt it with a lighter) then put a bit in your finger ONLY A BIT! and rub it around so the rim is brown and it doesn't matter if its a bit patchy cuz the brake pads even it out pretty much
Eh... No. Don't do that...
Do what JT said!
EDIT:
This..
The best way i found to apply tar is a dozen little lines in the same direction as the spokes (pointing towards the hub) this way you get a even spread when you drag your brake. Always put a little on and add more, you can't remove tar from rims easily so don't put too much on. And put even less on in hot weather.Don't spin your wheel and hold the tar against it, or colour your rim 100% black with it. You end up with waaaay to much on.
And don't melt it to put it on.
Just draw it on when the tar is solid.
-
Which begs the question, why do people still use taper cranks?
They are cheaper (for the bottom brackets) . I think that's about it.
-
My crank kept coming loose so I put a tiny dab of superglue on the bolt, tightened it up and its all good now
I'm not too sure if this is a good idea though

There is a endless amount of trials videos on youtube.
