    Your riding again?/still?

I know it somewhat breaks the Senior Member code these days but yes, I'm still riding :)

I never really "quit" riding, I've always loved it but travelling and work got in the way along with a 9 month layoff through injury, after that both were both in need of repair and its just taken me a while to get round to it.

  2. *Senior Member in owning a trials bike and still riding shocker!*

Over the past few months I've been thinking about selling this and trying an Inspired Hex or something instead but for now I've stuck with it and pimped it up a little instead :)

Recent additions being a new KMC Z610 HX chain, Da Bomb Tactic 3" Riser bars, Clarks Vice Lock-On Grips and Wellgo MG1 Pedals.

I've also swapped out my black 2005 HS33 and fitted a nice silver 2004 version instead as I much prefer them (Y)

I can list the spec up if anyone is interested but you should be able work out most of it from the pics..

  3. I've noticed for a while now I'm unable to copy and paste anything on Trials-Forum, also when I click "Quote" to reply to a specific persons post in a thread my message box will remain blank.

I'm running IE 10/11 and switching to Chrome makes everything work as it should so I can paste website links and use the quote/reply buttons just fine.

Any ideas how to fix this problem in IE? I tried "Restore Advanced Settings" in case somehow I turned off the ability to do so, but everything works ok on other websites its just this one I have the problem with..

  4. I've got it :)

Along with nearly 600 other retro videos from back in the day!

I heard a song the other day and was like I remember that from an old Phil Williams Echo video, had a look for it this morning and managed to find it - circa 2003

Edit: Seems I also have the DVD of Hibernation which I believe was the full video:

Edit 2: Uploaded the trailer to YouTube..

  5. How many stackers under your stem? I have a full build fourplay, standard was too low, I got a jaf fork extension of 30mm, so now I got 40mm of stackers, and trialtech high rise bars, feels much better for bunnys and manuals.

I'll have a check as to how many stackers I have under the stem, there is a link in my signature with photos of my setup too..

Okay so I have about 27mm of stackers under my stem and the total height of the stackers plus the stem comes to about 65mm then the top cap sits on top of that.

  6. Fairly amateurish thread here but..

How many of you are riding the Arcade Riser's and on what sort of setup are you riding them?

I myself have a 2011 Fourplay with Inspired Team forks (full build version so cut down more than stand alone) and run a 110x35 stem with Inspired High Risers.

When I first got the bike I felt like I couldn't manual or bunny hop how I felt I should of been able to, I switched around a few stems including the recommended 90x35 and they all felt too cramped or not great to bunny hop/manual with, after a while I settled with my current 110x35 stem and found a fairly nice bar angle to go with it using the Inspired High Riser bars, but after all this time I am still left feeling like the bike is holding me back rather than making all this street style riding easier.

I'm wanting to know from people who have switched to the Arcade Risers from the Inspired High Rise bars whether they made big difference? Also what stem/full setup you use them with?

I used to be able to manual my streety setup T-Pro for as long as I liked and bunny hop out of the manual up benches and into another manual again without much trouble, I could also hop up to manual on tyre width grind rails at a local skate park so when I picked up the Fourplay I assumed I'd be able to do similar stuff as its kind of what its built for, but if I was to try the manual to manual up the bench I'd either lose the manual before the bench, fail the hop up and hit my front wheel causing insta-death or make both but have no chance of getting the manual on top of the bench.

It's got to the point where I am tempted to sell the Fourplay and maybe try the Hex to see if that would be any different or just rebuild my mod to its street past setup..

Will these bars be worth the upgrade to try and sort my problem do you think?

    Cheers Olly.

  7. Dude!! We need to start organising some rides more often, James and I are both up for riding, we could have some mini group rides now the weather has improved :)

Nice video, I haven't really rode many of the spots in the video so its a refreshing change to see other spots in Cambridge.

  8. Oh, anyone remember the one Danny Holroyd did for an MBUK shoot in Spain? Dropped it on his red Pace? There was also a shot of him sitting on his ars after a failed attempt at a side ways drop? :giggle:

I also found these record related photos in my old trials folders on the PC:

  9. really nice bikes youve got there dude!

    Cheers dude :)

Yep mine came in the official box, still got the sticker etc. I think they're just manufacturing defects. When they did snap though I emailed the and told them how tthey gashed my leg open and they sent me a new one asap so they were quote good about it.

Ahh ok, well I've given both my sets a good few rides each now and they seems to be holding up to what I put them up to, like you say maybe it was just a manufacturing defect..

Pretty cool ride the other day, got my first puncture in about 3 years on my Fourplay (unrepairable hole in the tube and no spare tubes) nipped back home and got the Pure SL out which I hadnt rode properly in months due to trying to get used to the Fourplay first and I had a great ride! Did some really big stuff (for me) and tech stuff so it ended up being kind of a blessing :P

  10. forks still got the bubble effect I so kindly gave them? aha! that was YEARS back!! Looks like it can still take a thrashing!! Can I have the stock PLEASE!!

Haha! Yes indeed, people love it and always ask how I did it, I very rarely ride the mod these days though, its not really properly set up but I'm sure if I gave it a service and some TLC it'd still hold its own, used to love riding it (Y)

Be careful with those MG-1's from eBay mate! I bought the same ones for that price and they snapped on my second ride.

    https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/292590_10150816126180986_2081814685_n.jpg

Hmm that doesn't inspire confidence, how did yours come? Mine came all boxed up with stickers and such from Wellgo, obviously that sort of stuff can be faked too but they look part all in all..

  11. I picked up some Wellgo MG-1's for the Pure SL and Fourplay in a pretty good deal on eBay (£25 per pair) and they are looking and feeling nice :)

Also the 110x35 System Ex Stem I purchased for the Fourplay is really working for me and my riding is now seemingly improving weekly as I get more and more used to it, just today though I decided to roll the bars a tiny bit more forward (few mm) to get me a little more room when on the back wheel for Trialsy moves (marked the previous bar position just incase it got worse) but it seems to have improved both aspects of riding as it feels almost too easy to bunnyhop now and yet also feels better on the back wheel too!

Really want to sort the front disk out on the Pure SL as its pretty pants and it would help massively on the sort of riding I do on that bike, tried new pads and cleaning the rotor and such to no avail..

For now though I'm having fun in the sun on the Fourplay (Y)

  12. Hey people,

Its sunny and I was bored enough to snap some pics of my trials bikes so here they are:

I can try and list the full specs if really needed or you can just ask which specific parts you want to know and I'll try and let you know..

Let me know what you think guys!!

  13. Cheers! I finally chose the Ritchey comp 90x30, it's a fairly long 90mm if that makes sense, the Trialtech's stack was too high and I couldn't get that final 5mm stacker under it that I needed, also the 35deg pulled the bars just slightly too close, as my frame's reach is pretty much the same as a Skye.

I think the super steep stems are better for the not so super short frames.

I'm definitely not fully comfortable on it yet, rear disc for the 1st time in 16 years takes some getting used to. I think I'll do bigger better things on the 24", but I think the gap drops/front wheel gaps etc will always be a little bit easier on the 26". But the super tight flicky geo has made riding with hard tyres feel ok, I've never liked super hard tyres but it just feels right on that bike.

I'm gonna try & use both equally though, but after riding the 24" the Trialtech Hi rise bars on my 26" feel almost flat!

Well I rode with a 70x25 at first which was all kinds of too small, then swapped to a 160-ish x 25 Zoo Mod Stem which actually felt quite nice for the trials side of things but obviously ruined any sort of bunnhop or street move, I also tried a 100x5 or something like that but that was plain awful, this new 90x35 is quite nice but I was left feeling I needed that little bit more reach to combine the street and trials, we'll see..

I know what you mean on all that stuff and I agree, I've always run my tyres pretty much rock hard on mod/stock/bmx and 24 as I hated pinch flats and liked to know my wheel wasn't going to give at all during moves.

I will try and equally use my 24" and 26" (Echo Pure SL) but for now I just want to get ultra comfortable on my 24", but you're damn right about the bars, I felt the same way when getting on the stock, was super strange because I loved the set-up before and now it feels quite strange >_<

Look forward to some new clips in the future from you though (Y)

  14. What stem have you finally settled on? I have been trying out a few with no joy on my Fourplay, slightly getting used to the 90x35 now but still felt I needed a little more so I've just bought 110x35 to see how that fairs..

You seem pretty comfortable on the new bike though, do you feel able to ride to your full potential on it yet or do you think you'd still be able to push yourself further on a usual 26" street setup?

  15. The back pain could just be related to having not ridden that type of riding either recently or ever? Same as when you first start riding and you get random aches/pains that gradually go.

    But yeah, 90x35.

Yea I know the usual aches and pains when I havent ridden in a month, but this was far worse than I've had before, the pains are still here a couple of months on, I'll ride though it I guess though..

They just haven't been cut down. With that headset 45mm of stackers was enough to top the steerer by a few mm (Y)

If you buy an Inspired Fourplay full build I'm guessing the forks have been cut down more than if you buy the Team forks seperately?

Mine came off a full build bike but dont appear to be cut down at all from what I can tell..

  16. 90X35 with spacers to give a really high front end

will feel a littler roomier than if it's low down plus you'll be able to bunnyhop and manual easier.

So the 90mm BBB Stem I linked should do the trick then..

I'm riding 45mm of stackers with 90mm/35dregree stem and TT highrise bars. I'm just under 6 foot.

I really cant ride anything too low down now or too far out but some people can make it work.

Maybe try the Onza stem with more rise bars or the 90X35 stem like Ali just suggested.

I've seen videos of your riding and saw how high your bars were and it looked comfortable to me too, same with Ben Rowlands setup, I also read how he had lower back pains from riding a low setup for years which is what I experienced heavily after just two rides with the lower stem on this :(

Question though, you seem to have the same forks as me, how in the world have you got that many spacers on??

Also if you check the 3rd picture of mine are my bars the High Rise Inspired or the normal ones would you say?

  17. Hi people,

I'm interested to hear and see what bar and stem combo everyone runs on their Fourplays..

I have an '09 Fourplay Frame with new Inspired Team Forks and currently three stem choices none of which feel right to me!

It originally came with an "Onza Stubby" Stem of which I am unsure of the Geo (Anyone know of it?) but it looks like this:

    post-242-0-76156200-1361449101_thumb.jpg

That felt too cramped and low for me so I swapped it over to a Toxsin one that had extra lenght but almost no rise, but that felt much worse.. >_<

I had one other stem to try which was an old ZOO! Mod stem (again usure of Geo, any ideas?) which has more rise and looks like this:

    post-242-0-44871900-1361449465_thumb.jpg

    post-242-0-46256200-1361449472_thumb.jpg

It feels better with the bars raised up more but still obviously not an ideal setup, I still cant bunnyhop it with much confidence or manual too well on it either which is why I bought the bike and how I see others ride them, it feels like something about my setup is holding my riding back so any help would be great (Y)

    Cheers Olly.

Also I'm like 6ft1 if it makes any difference but I come from riding Mod then Stock then BMX and now trying my hand on 24.
