  1. Alright Sam,

Thought I say hi as I’ve noticed your interesting Norco project!

Shame someone thought it was a great idea to rattle can this frame!

Anyways, I’m actually a big Norco fan having followed the whole of Ryans career as a kid. Possibly one of the most influential riders of all time, his segments still stand up today. I think people forget how good he really was!

Hence I’ve owned and ridden many of these frames! The only advice I can offer is to try 80mm travel forks. They seem to keep the angles just right and it bunny hops like a dream! Super nice ride quality with the steel frame, quite hard on the back wheel compared to anything modern or trials specific but it makes it good for rotations and manuals. A great all rounder so I’m sure you’ll enjoy mate!

Out of interest how’d you find out it was one of Ryan’s? The disc mount is also unusual!?

Look forward to the build mate!

    Charlie.

Yep it’s hard to get a good all rounder these days as there have never been more specific models and categories of bikes than ever before! To be honest it’s mostly all marketing. I feel lucky to have been riding when bikes were more simplistic, you can get your riding level much higher from riding hardtails on the street and on the trails.I think it’s way so many riders struggle with basic skills like wheelies, manuals and bunny hops as it’s so much harder to master on massive full sus bikes. Plus on hardtail to really need to figure out your landings on the trannies to keep it smooth!

Got a few Norcos, all are pre manifesto mostly as even the classic red frame wasn’t called manifesto, the dark blue one was the first one named after the release of the film, I think?! Wish I had one though!

I have a very early orange frame and yellow one (used in the films evolve and revolution, this was my introduction to Ryan leech!)

Ive not actually finished the yellow build as I want to do a replica vibe!

I have also just got one of the newer frames in grey which again I’ve not built yet.

I’ve never seen another frame except yours with a disc mount! Back in the day, I had a frame builder weld a rear disc tab on one of my frames as I wanted a perfect street bike. Only trouble was disc brakes weren’t that great then so didn’t use it that much so might give it another go with something modern!

Think you’ll dig blasting yours around mate!

Well, I was considering converting to rear disc as I find that a bit less hassle than magura.Could use the hub else where as it’s not disc would need another hub.

Wouldn’t want the suspension forks just rigid.

what’s the best price you could do?
