  1. Sounds like you have glazed your disc and pads, leaving the wheel on your bike get some fine sandpaper and lightly pinch the disc and spin in the normal rotation of the disc add a small amount of water and keep spinning until the water goes a dark gray, repeat until your happy that the shine has gone.

Then get a clean rag and wipe of the gray water, repeat again but with brake cleaner let it dry, wipe of what's left and you should be done for the disc.

Muc-off brake clean should do the job or clutch an pad cleaner for motorbikes

For you your pads do the same pretty much the same thing lightly sand with water until the pad goes dull, rinse of with warm water then let them dry.

When your braking the pads back in take it easy on them no sharp braking or holding on brake well as riding as fast as you can you don't want the disc getting hot, this will glaze again. Just ride at a steady pace and apply the brake until you stop, do it a few times and they should start biting

If this happens again it could be down to the pad being worn if so replace the pads and repeat the above

I had the same problem not so long ago and this done the trick perfectly.

    Hope this helps

    Scratch all of the above

  2. Hey all this is the first time I've posted a video of me riding its not the best edit just some clips put together. Usually ride a lot smoother than this but it was cold and windy also haven't rode in moths, anyway enough of my excuses, all comments welcome :P.

Think photo bucket has dulled the quality it was shot in HD

Not sure what to link vid as to get it playing of TF not linked to PB

  3. Yeah its dead 2 cracks appeared in it one near near the bb shell and one under the headset tube, creaked a lot.

Will have to come to wigan one weekend need to get back into riding more my self

I've have minor faults with the avid's but nothing to bad. One was over bled and one I bought had no bleed in it, got a free brake out of it and got to keep the one they originally sent out

  4. Hey all its been a wile since I last posted a pic of my trials bike and its completely different from what it last was. Thought I'd give duel disc a go so turned a front brake into a rear since the lever is flip flop now just waiting on my wheel to arrive. Will get more pictures when its built.

Almost ready to go just need to fit the disc change the sprocket. Busted a chain whip trying to remove the old one

  5. Ok my avid arrived Tuesday and I was a little miffed when I fitted it. There was hardly any oil in it so the lever was pulling right into the bars, long story short I have a new avid on its way, I get to keep the one I have which is a bonus.

Today though I have a go a bleeding it my self, bought a bleed kit, 1 youtube vid and an hour or so later I now have one working avid. :)

Should of trimmed the hose before hand though so that's tomorrows job, also am I right in saying the brake should feel even more solid again with a shorter hose.

  6. What I am about to say is going to make this post seem pointless now.

Sorry all as I ended up getting the avid elixir, I was really happy with the first set I bought, bedded in within minutes and have plenty of power and at £22 compered to £52 I couldn't resist.

But if all goes pear-shaped I will report back haha.

  7. I was looking at the BB7 before and on Tartys and CRC they look alright and I've read good things about them.

Also well poking around CRC (am going back on my self here but) I Found the Avid Elixir 1 disc brakes on sale for 22pound.

Am now leaning towards the Elixir because I have them on my DJ and they are perfect.

  8. Hey all I haven't rode trials in months so I went out my bike yesterday and was surprised I picked it up quite quick but my front mono mini is letting me down and has done all the time I've had it, so am swapping to a cable set up which will have more set up to it which is what am after.

So what can you guys recommend for 160disc caliper, 1finger lever.

    Thanks

  9. Not to long ago i built up a dirt cheap bike from bits i had and what i had in work. I resently took the 3rd gear of the front because it was bent and teeth where damage. Every time i drop into 6 and 7th gear (only have 7 speed) on the back the chain comes of to the right also if i am speeding along and hit the smalles bump it comes off. It was doing the same on the damaged 3rd gear before i removed it. Ive set the stop as far in still letting me get the 2nd gear also adjusted the screw on the back of the derailleur that adjusts the wrap around just to see if it added some tension.

I havent spent a penny on the bike but if i need to its got to be the cheapes way possible as it isnt worth anythink. Any advice on how i can fix this problem would be appreciated as i have to pull of the road 5, 6 times there and back to put the chain on. and riding in a higher gear isnt fun

  10. Sorry if this seems like a pointless thread and late notice.

The set up i have feels to short and to close now, mucpuddy riser bars 40mm and a try all nuc stem also with a small frame its bad now so...

I am thinking of buying some trialtech high rise bars tomorrow afternoon to see if it make a difference, but i cant picture in my head where the bars would be in terms of reach. Will the end of the bars be right over the front axle or in line with it, will it not make a difference no matter how far i tilt the bars forward? Changing the stem is my last option if possible but i will if needs be.

If someone has a set up of any 150 stem with trialtech high rise bars, can you take a side view picture of your set up and post it on here to get a better idea of where they will be.

Also if anyone else has high rise bars with any other stem up of stem just to see what its like with others.

    Thanks
