I was scared my minute long edits would be boring so try and snip the start and end of the clips quite close. Means I can fit more lines in too. Its all about the minute long insta clips now a days. Gotta keep up with social media, or you'll be left behind! ;)

Now, how do I add adverts...?

I was actually going to complain and say "damn these new 1 minute trend BS! I wanna sit down and watch at the very least 3 minutes of riding!"

I wouldn't say they give a "false sense" of that because that's not what they're trying to show at all, and not something I've ever implied they were trying to show.  Webisodes, vlogs and stuff like that are all well and good, but if I'm about to go riding and I want to watch a video to get some inspiration or motivation I'm going to put Ali's Cardiff video on, maybe watch a bit of 002 or something like that - I'm not going to put on a 25 minute long vlog.  I made/make them because they're the type of videos I want to see, and what gets me excited about riding and filming.  In the BMX world people are putting way more emphasis on just putting out whatever bits and pieces they get in the form of a webisode rather than putting time in and creating a video part, and if the pendulum keeps swinging in that direction it's going to suck long term.  They're good for building up more of a relationship with the rider/audience, but they'll never replace actual riding videos in terms of creating something memorable and long lasting.

No no, never to replace the "clean" videos, the vlogs are just an amazing complement.

  3. I enjoy both videos to be honest the edit ones and the "real" ones and I think they're both awesome. As for vlogs: the more quantity and video-length the better. I'd watch them even if it's you doing a bunny hop over a shoe over and over. The cool thing about vlogs is that we get to see your personality, so we enjoy the vlogs because of "you" and not just because of the riding.

  4. I've got an idea, hear me out:

-We love the live commentary and "some" headcam footage.

-We'd rather a tripod setup, but WITH commentary.

So my idea would be to do a split screen for some lines? Like get 2 cameras 1 in a tripod and 1 on your head, so that way we can hear your commentary while you do the lines, but also get to see the full thing from a different angle.

Half the screen would be your headcam with audio, the other half would be a tripod camera.

Not for every single bit of the video but for the lines you make, it'd be awesome!

  5. I feel like you guys have it already sorted but just a TL;DR version with steps:

    1. Make sure the move, line, obstacle AND RIDER (100% of his/her body+ bike) are all inside the frame of the video, so we can actually see what just happened and what the rider did, not just filming the wheels or the shoes. Step back and make sure we can see wtf is going on.

    2. Pick some non-cheesy music (if you're adding music)

    3. Use of slow-mo should be tasteful, we don't need to see a slow-mo 1 meter gap and 2 minutes of rear wheel hops because they were all captured in slow-mo.

    4. It can be commercial but just tell the people filming that the viewers will want to be able to see what just happened, and will also want to see a 90% riding video.

    5. It does NOT have to be a movie production with storyline, etc. Refer to Borisevich Pavel's older videos, CLS, Ali C.

    6. Not required but good for reference: latest amazing videos are ones from Mark W.

    7. Dress like a proper human being.

And some people will hate me for this but if you see Danny Mac's videos, yes they are over the top productions but you can see what he's doing, even if you don't like his riding style AND they're all about someone riding a bike.

If I missed something let me know.

  6. You got spins or elfs in the woods, pick your poison.

I think this is great for the sport, it's flashy, people share it, gets attention draws people in and given that street, tgs (if it still exists) and comp are all connected then they can decide to switch or stay with street.

I mean I saw a Danny Mac's video, got interest in trials, then one thing led to another and I do tgs now with a bit of comp.

  7. Almost two minutes of intro. Jump cuts everywhere, ADD editing , painful music. Barbed wire titles... Couldn't get past 3 minutes, too scared I'll have to go to the doctor for an std if I watch all 9 minutes.

Pu$$y, I made it all the way to 4 minutes!

  8. Seems that max preload for side hopping isn't needed after all.

For everyone is so different, don't quote me I'm still shit but some riders seem not to need that max preload, they all seem to tuck the bike under them at the speed of thunder though.

  9. The time it takes you to carry the rim or any part to a shop and then wait for them to service it, and THEN to go back for it, just do repeat the process 3 more times because they did it all wrong is ridiculous, you can fix pretty much anything with basic tools and a youtube video in 1/10th the time. Especially in trials.
